So, going back to what you said previously, why did you believe Origins was "a remake of Rayman 1, basically," anyway?schmooky.luke wrote:I'm not saying it was bad. Old Rayman was fantastic. It was AMAZING. SPECTACULAR.sergiomonty wrote:Old Rayman was freaking cool.

If only it was.
Re: Rayman Legends
I meant to say it 'Feels' like a remake of Rayman 1. The levels 'Feel' exactly the same (Well...at least the Moskito levels).Master4lyf1 wrote:So, going back to what you said previously, why did you believe Origins was "a remake of Rayman 1, basically," anyway?

Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman 1 feels like reading French fairy tales after imbibing hallucinogenic substances.
Rayman Origins feels like watching Cartoon Network after imbibing a pizza, except the pizza is all cheesy and messy and makes you want to play Rayman 1.

Re: Rayman Legends
Well... I think it depends more on growing with the series. I started playing rayman like 2 or 3 years ago. I liked Rayman 3, I LOVED Rayman 2, and Rayman 1 is amazing, but there are several features that make me prefer Rayman Origins. It's not the difficulty, in fact, that's a strong point that Rayman 1 has against Rayman Origins, I'm talking about the aesthetic, the character design is too cheesy for me; the characters have all eggshaped eyes, dumb smiles and their colors are too bright. Their behavior is also awkward, (they dance when defeated, I mean... what the hell). Sometimes I also dislike the level design, not for the structure because it has some great exploration factor, but the fact that a level usually is a floating platform with spike balls floating around. It doesn't feel natural, it feels like the level wasn't a real land, but a gigantic obstacle course completely designed for Rayman. Even there's this level where the whole structure is just several white bars floating in the air, and rayman must slide thru them. The Candy Chateau didn't exist for me, it didn't. It was challenging? yeah, sure, but it was an awful place for such a mysterious character like Mr Dark to hide. Oh, and the music, some pieces are amazing, but some are irritating for me, and I don't know but... the music constatly changes? not in a subtly way but.. really exaggeratedly? from slow, peaceful music to crazy jazz.
Don't take me wrong, I love Rayman 1 (in fact, it's the most replayable Rayman game so far, in my opinion) , but in terms of design and elaboration, I prefer Rayman Origins x200.

Re: Rayman Legends
I have the exact opposite opinion concerning Rayman Origins' level design. I find it too linear and "rushable". Rayman 1 did force backtracking and exploration, making the gameplay less dull.

Re: Rayman Legends
I actually said that, Haruka (or at least I tried to mean that). Rayman 1 lets you explore in comparison to Origins. Sure, you can explore, but it's still exploration in a conveniently positioned floating island with nothing else but air in the background. I feel Rayman Origins more natural, more "foresty", more "deserty", more "towny", do you get me now? the only thing that Rayman Origins needed was more exploration, and I hope they fix that with Legends, especially now that they have 10 Teensies to hide on every level.Haruka wrote:I have the exact opposite opinion concerning Rayman Origins' level design. Re: Rayman Legends
I see what you mean, but personally the "natural placement" made unavoidanbly easier to find secret areas of the Electoon cages. A single hole in the ceiling, floor or a soil with leaves was enough to make it look suspicious. While they wanted to hide, at the same time it gives a lot in the looks.

Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah, I know... if only it had more trees and lianas and alternative areas, or some good camouflage for the secret items/areas... in fact, a zoomed in camera like the one proposed on the very first trailer would have helped (even graphically), but then there's the co-op, so you're forced to see EVERYTHING even if you're in single player mode.
Re: Rayman Legends
I think that was one of the issues. The camera was zoomed in R1, so it made the level orientation more difficult, while in RO it isn't really this. Very wide camera around Rayman: you see everything.

Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman Origins always feels much easier than R1
Re: Rayman Legends
I like Origins' gameplay a little more than 1's, but can't say the same about level design. If these two were somehow combined into one, that would make a really baffling game.
Re: Rayman Legends
What it seemed to have been in the beginning, was a R1 mixtured with RO, but the final product does not spells that.

I don't know about you guys but I think Origins was well done.

No-one here says that Origins is a bad game, or mediocre for that fact.schmooky.luke wrote:I don't know about you guys but I think Origins was well done.
I will admit, it is a brilliant game, but it does have its differences to the other entries of the franchise which changes my thoughts and feelings towards it in relation to my thoughts and feelings to the other installments.
And from the look of things, I'm not the only one.

Re: Rayman Legends
The fact that Origins is liked more by non-fans than it is by fans is quite telling.
Re: Rayman Legends
Ironically the same happens for Rayman 3. Lets remind that Ubisoft was more worried with the reaction of the general audience, from what an interview said.
