Re: Rayman level you hate most?

When I was fighting him I kept accidentally saying “thanks mawpaw, you’re a real one”
Oh yeah, I remember finding out his name much later when playing the bonus levels. I remember wondering who "Razoff" was, and if there was a connection to Razorbearddr_st wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 11:55 am You knew it was called a 'Mawpaw' while fighting Razoff? I don't believe it. I didn't even know Razoff was called Razoff while fighting him.![]()
Is that an insult on me sucking so much? The Jonster wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 6:44 pm So in other words you should have more of an advantage than us older people playing these games! Although I don't think I ever struggled on Bongo Hills the way you did![]()
I remember the music with the spider being flat out creepy, where it starts making those horror screeching noises. The Jonster wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 6:44 pm Well if I had to choose an R2 level I hate most, it would be Tomb of the Ancients. Has one of the few pieces of music I don't like, and overall is much more disturbing than the Cave of Bad Dreams which to some people was already creepy enough. Bonus points for having to rescue Clark at the end though!
Most of that tune is also present during the canopy spider chase. But the overall atmosphere of the Tomb is creepier. Don't forget the annoying part with the endless stream of zombie chickens flying every which way if you are going for all lums and cages.Steo wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:08 pm I remember the music with the spider being flat out creepy, where it starts making those horror screeching noises.
In fact, the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire is one of the more forgiving levels about missed lums. You can revisit most areas multiple times. All you need to do is make sure you have 33 lums and 7 cages before falling into part 2, and in part 2 - not miss the well-hidden cage. Actually, the lum that is easiest to miss is the last one, right before the mask!Steo wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:08 pmI think a lot of people tend to hate the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire in Rayman 2, due to its length, though personally I kind of like it. The only thing that bothers me about it is if you manage to miss one lum and have to play the whole level all over again.
Yeah that's pretty true, the contrast of the music with the actual atmosphere makes it seem a lot more creepy overall.dr_st wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:14 pm Most of that tune is also present during the canopy spider chase. I suppose that makes sense when it comes to just casually playing through and completing the game. However, I have an issue where I always tend to want to collect every lum and 100% the game.dr_st wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:14 pm In fact, the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire is one of the more forgiving levels about missed lums. Oh yeah this chair section I always found quite annoying and tedious for that. At least in Prison ship you can just fall off the edge, aside from that round pit you have mentioned which I have of course very often missed one single lum on and had to play the level again. The chair one though seems a bit more tedious in that way, as you have to keep spinning around in circles and it starts to kind of disorient you while you're trying to collect them.dr_st wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:14 pm I can think of quite a few levels where it is very easy to miss lums and have to replay whole section - anything in the chair ride segment of Top of the World, the last lums before Foutch in Beneath the Sanctuary, and of course the famous round pit in the Prison Ship. What's common to all these is that if you miss one, you may not have the opportunity to kill yourself quickly before the game automatically takes you to the next section.
Yeah they were very cheeky with that one.The Jonster wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:35 pm Oh yeah, that lum at the end of Stone and FIre is actually really easy to miss, considering it's just off to the side in the mask room.![]()
Yeah, that section took me a while. There's probably a way to control it with precision, but it felt very random to me!The Jonster wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 9:56 pm The level that I hate most is actually in Rayman Redemption. I don't remember what the name of the level was but I know it was in Playtopia and it involved me fiddling with bouncing basketballs.![]()
Had the mechanics of the super helicopter remained the same as in the original game, this section would have been much easier, but the added momentum made it a real pain in the ass.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Sep 24, 2023 10:47 pm If we're talking about Redemption levels, how about that Candy one where you have to Super-Helicopter from the beginning to the end, picking up several keys and never dying / checkpointing?![]()
that and the Sanctuary of stone and fire. those stages drag on soo longMLII wrote: Tue Feb 14, 2012 5:07 pm The Cave of Bad Dreams.
