I watched episodes four and five and it was indeed a lot better! What I really liked is that they're introducing a new , but the problem is dealt with in just two episodes. It's basically the opposite of the Walking Dead where the same situations lingers on forever as they artificially inflate the duration of the series with boring subplots and the antics of annoying, whimsical characters. I stopped watching that a long time ago.DaveRattlehead wrote: Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:22 pm I found the fourth episode much better. It has some more straight up action and the preview of the fifth episode looks really good. I don't want to say that the third one is a bad episode (in fact, I think it is a very well told story )... But I think it could have been funnier if they had depicted Ellie and Bill taunting each other, just like it happened in the game.

Re: Off Topic
That was precisely the exact reason of why I couldn't stand The Walking Dead anymore. Some guionists or directors have some kind of fetish for streching out the stories. Maybe some people here are going to kill me, but I have a similar opinion about Avatar... The plot is good and the graphical effects are amazing, but it could have probably been summed up in 1h30min.

I thought the first movie was a bit boring so I didn't even bother with the second one...
Pocahontas meets the Smurfs is one hell of a crossover idea, though.

Re: Off Topic
I've finished The Last of Us series. It has been a last chapter quite faithful to the original game. Overall, I'd say the series has been pretty good, although it's true that I missed some more action. While I wasn't expecting a Rambo movie, I do think they could have included more infected/zombies, just a little more adrenaline. I'd give it a solid 8-8.5.

Same, I finished it too and I really liked it overall. There were two episodes that felt very slow and borderline pointless () but otherwise I was content with the pace and the action.
I don't think anything was announced yet, but I see no reason why they wouldn't start working on a season two based on the second game now.

Finally we managed to get very small crystals after a couple of weeks trying different ways. Not posting a pic of everything I synthesize, but these crystals are very cool
And yes, that's my calligraphy... Now you can analyze my personality with that, I guess

Nice stuff! What are you going to use them for?

The main goal is to design a recyclable solid used for the synthesis of high-value products or hydrogen, which could be stored in another reaction with the solid prepared or reused as an energetic vector. The crystals will react to get other products which will be used to bond the active molecule onto the solid support. Nothing better than a drawing to explain itHunchman801 wrote: Tue Mar 21, 2023 11:28 am Nice stuff! What are you going to use them for?

Just to be sure I understand, this is effectively a storage medium?

Re: Off Topic
In an ideal case, it should be definitely an storage system. The same catalyst could work for both the releasing/storage of hydrogen when needed (and also for the production of high-value products). The main difference is that this hydrogen would be released/stored in an organic liquid, which is easier to handle, and not in an isolated, expensive tank.

If this can mean fewer hydrogen buses on fire, then fine.

Re: Off Topic
Irish supermarkets now seem to be trying to outdo each other on weird / disturbing ads for loyalty schemes…
Between "Shrink Your Bill" from Dunnes Stores:
(Featuring a shopper named Bill who actually shrinks to the size of a mouse)
And this abomination from Tesco:
(Featuring shoppers whose faces turn into smiling plastic masks which seemingly inhibit eating)
I really wonder what the hell they're trying to achieve here…

That's weird af for a supermarket advertisement lol.
Regarding to weird ads, does anyone remember that PS3 commercial featuring a baby doll crying? Was there even an explanation for that ad?
These are the ads if you're curious about them:

Re: Off Topic
That Tesco ad reminds me of that cursed Momo image. I do recall that PS3 ad with the doll, I probably saw it in one of those YouTube videos that rank the weirdest videogame ads or something like that. Also, I noticed that there are several threads for commercials that have barely been used:

I hadn't seen these because I've been in Sweden, but the Tesco one is almost creepy. The Dunnes one I just laughed at "give us a lift".

Re: Off Topic
Over twenty years ago, I was fascinated by roads, signs, traffic management, etc. When I was 5~6, I produced seemingly endless top-down plans of real and imagined road layouts based on whatever whims flitted through my young mind.
Now there's a project to clear out old stuff we don't need, I'm seeing a lot of these pictures again for the first time in over two decades. I tell ya, the lane merging schemes that must have excited me so much back then… now they make my blood pressure rise, my hair stand on end and my knuckles clench!
