Yes, it was very challenging. It took me so many tries to defeat him. I was VERY frustrated.

Rayman 2 is quite hard, but the first one is definitely harder. Took me months to beat it ^^

Ah yes, I remember playing that game at a friend's house several years ago. Tough, tough game...

I wonder whatever happened to Mr. Dark? It would be awesome if Ubisoft put him in the real Rayman 4. That is - if they ever feel like getting off their lazy asses. It makes me rather sad when I see the real Raving Rabbids trailer. The action storyline would beat the party version anytime, in my opinion. I don't care if it uses the Wii controls or not (although that would be nice), as long as we actually get a good Rayman game. Ancel had said
something about an old villain returning in the original Raving Rabbids, and that he and Rayman would argue throughout the game. That would be plain awesome... *sigh* I just wish they didn't revert it to some plunger-shooting mini game collection...

Yes. Hopefully in a few years, SOMEONE or SOMETHING will get Ubisoft back on track. I'm so freaking tired of people thinking Rayman is a Rabbid. My friend was like, 'OMG, that is Rayman? I thought he was a bunny!' Argh... Poor guy. He's so misunderstood.

He's also sometimes mistaken for a dog... don't ask me why

Well Rayman does look a bit dogish.

Many people do believe he was based on a dog. I think he looks slightly like a dog... Y'know, the 'nose' being the snout, and the hair being the ears... Hey, I've heard people calling him a grasshopper. Who knows what animal or 'other being' Rayman was based on. And of course, there's a possibility he wasn't based on anything.

Practically what you said. But I can't see him looking like a grasshopper.

I believe I know where this strange grasshopper theory came from. In 'The Desert of the Knaaren', from Rayman 3, a Teensie said, 'Little Grasshopper' to Rayman. He didn't mean it in the animal way, he meant, 'beginner'. Heh, people can get quite confused...

we had a discussion about this on RZ. basically, kelvin summed it up and proved everybody's suspicions wrong taking us back to "a limbless guy of an unknown race". but he is certainly not a dog, and there is no possible way he's a grasshopper. there are grasshoppers in R1 and he does not look like them at all.

I got banned once on another art gallery that doesn't accept animal-like characters in drawings cause I kept posting pictures of Rayman. They stated that because his nose is large, it looks much like a animal's snout, therefore is against the rules. Eventually I was banned for repetitive intentionally breaking the rules. I didn't even get a chance to correct their accusations. XD

I completely agree with you... I certainly think he looks NOTHING like a grasshopper. He doesn't even have legs!

Jeez, talk about harsh... They seriously thought he looked THAT much like an animal?

I think he looks rather... humanoid. With a mix of an absolutely new species. To be honest, I find Rayman to be very adorable... And since I'm a complete animal-person, maybe this means I really do think he was based on a dog... o_0 *facepalm* I can't make up my mind here! Human, or animal.... Probably both, if anything else...

I don't understand why Rayman HAS to be based off an earth-living creature. He could just be one of a whole species of Limbless beings that was just a random concept from Ancel....

If Rayman was a dog he'd have a black nose and end up looking like Cookie. If anything though, the Rayman 2 look made Rayman look the hell like Brain from Inspector Gadget. 8|
Let me guess Luckster, that site is one that begins with Y right? Ain't the admins there ever seen characters like Asterix, who also has a big nose?

Plus, if they've ever played Rayman 1, they may find that the Musician's baby looked very human because of his small nose.

Even I have never noticed his nose xD

True... Maybe Rayman is just Rayman. Ancel was probably making some random sketch, and poof, there he was. Perhaps he wasn't based on anything.
ROFL at the Asterix thing... Ah, yes... I remember the Musician's baby.... I think....

Argh, I don't really remember....

Seems quite obvious to me that he mostly based Rayman on a human character. The common (yet so dumb) mistakes, such as thinking he's a dog or a rabbit, are the consequence of the way his hair was designed in Rayman 2, as it was mistaken for ears.
