The Longest Shortcut is one of the best levels in the game. Atmosphere over action.

Well we all have our opinion. I didn't like hate it. but sometimes it could be boring. but the tower of the leptys, was a little boring. it was always hoodlums after hoodlums, and you did almost all the obstacles in previous levels :fou2:

I dont like much the Longest Shortcut if not counting Globox trying to open the door. The Longest Shortcut has no vehicles, battles, co operation, bosses etc. for me its just boring. But Globox is very funny when he tries to open the door (in the French version, in the English not funny at all).

The Longest Shortcut is one of the best levels in the game, those minigames with crowns are magical and music is super catchy.

I kinda agree, I actually get upset in land of the livid dead when Hoodlums start appearing, just gotta love taking in that mixture of enchanting music and beautiful level design. Though I like a equilibrium of the two really, I will play a calm, atmospheric game in the soothing deserts of Journey but will straight after want an action filled shoot out in the Desert of Uncharted 3.

That's why I like the Longest Shortcut: a very calm level, and perfect to do a "break" after so many Hoodlums and action.

I agree with spiral and Haruka. The change of pace and the atmosphere add a nice touch to the game. The puzzles in the Longest Shortcut are some of the most creative I've seen in platformers. In themselves, they're not that hard, but the idea behind them is great.

I agree that the Longest Shortcut definitely had creativity in it's design, but I begin to miss the action when I reach the end of it.

I hated the invisble platfroms and the part where you have to punch the switch and reach trhe door before it closes. They took me ages to pass.

I found the invisible platforms and the mirrors to be rather nifty, it was a cool idea.

The invisible mirror puzzles were the best of them all. Especially when you view the room from upside-down, you can really enjoy the true skills a platformer requires of you. Not that it was that hard in the end, but the challenge is fun.

I agree there, but I will admit I end up getting a little bored, one of the issues I have with Rayman 3 was it's imbalance, some segments had way too much action, while others had too much platforming.

You can't really have too much platforming in a Platformer game. That's like saying you don't like the amount of pursuits in a racing game. I do acknowledge your opinion, but I still think it's a little silly. :P

Fair enough, perhaps I should say that I'd like distractions from the platforming to be placed more evenly.

Well the only one I didn't really like of those was the one with the invisible door. I liked the others.

I like the Longest Shortcut too. For me, the invisible platforms part wasn't the hardest section - I thought the timed doors were harder. But that was a long time ago, nowadays the entire level is pretty easy for me.

Oh, the invisible door was the best trick in my opinion. I also really like the hidden jump-through window in that part with the rocket shoe. I like that kind of hidden and sneaky parts of games.

They could have made an invisible rocket shoe... where only the shoe's reflection would be visible, on the floor and/or walls... that would've been crazy :fou2:

By the way, I must congratulate you for noticing this:

I've been playing Rayman 3 for quite a few years and I have never noticed this.

Me neither. I also didn't notice before the R1 sprite cameo in the game until a screenshot appeared on RayWiki.
