I have never understood why some people say British English is the "standard English".

I have never until recently understood how many differences American and British English actually have.

I'm talking about the spelling mainly. I always knew about the U in words like colour, but not stuff like realise vs realize and litre vs liter etc.

I can Remember I said before that my parents Didn't like me using the American way of spelling certain words since I was in Primary school and they still don't.
