Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
The Rayman Arena/M model is lower poly than the Revolution model, but it has the 3D hair that Revolution doesn't. Although since the Revolution model is just plain better and the hair is easy to add 3D to, I'm probably going to go with the Revolution model. However it depends in what fits the style.
Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
i just bought it today i will see what you mean.
ok i see what you mean its more appealing to the eye and look better as well. (i wish ubisoft would release there models they use on the covers to the public.)

Just imagine if we had THIS guy in game!

It would be more than perfect.RayFan9876 wrote:

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
it would be amazing and since cry-engine 3 doesn't have a low ploy ratio it would be much smoother. but the only way to get the model is if it was possible to rip movie models (but i don't see that happening anytime soon.)

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Jesus Christ! Does this mean we'll be able to change the levels? To create our own Rayman 2 game?
Also, have you found any secret things? There's something in the Tomb of Ancients (not the 1000 Lum, and not that thingy with those cheat codes) if I remember correctly... And the laser door (I guess there's simply apathway and that's it)... And...
How can I view those levels?

No, you wouldn't be able to change it and put it back into Rayman Revolution, just rip it for your own use and others' use.need my speed wrote:Jesus Christ! Does this mean we'll be able to change the levels? To create our own Rayman 2 game?

@the3Dguy:
What do you mean by "low poly ratio?"
Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
less edged faces and does not relay on the edged faces (kinda hard to explain i will upload some pictures)RayFan9876 wrote:No, you wouldn't be able to change it and put it back into Rayman Revolution, just rip it for your own use and others' use.need my speed wrote:Jesus Christ! Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Cool.
So, we can rip whole levels without textures as of this moment? Do you think we will eventually be able to rip them with textures?
And would it at least be theoretically possible to extract levels, edit them, and put them back in the game (i.e. create your own levels)? Or is it simply impossible?

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Well, not so much 'we'; Drolpiraat has made a program himself, I think, which does it for him. He hasn't released it to us (yet) and maybe he never will - that's his decision to make. He did mention that he has ripped the textures, but hasn't managed to get them with the palette (please explain what this means for us ripping noobies). My guess is he's still slowly making progress - he did say the process is a slow one, so we must all be patient.need my speed wrote: So, we can rip whole levels without textures as of this moment? No. Theoretically, you could rip, extract and edit them, but you would never be able to put them back in. Here's why. One: the game probably checks whether any of its files are corrupted (i.e. edited) and crashes if they are. Two: we'd need to compress them and encrypt them (lock them) in the same way UbiSoft has, which is impossible since we know neither the encryption script or the keyword to activate it.need my speed wrote: And would it at least be theoretically possible to extract levels, edit them, and put them back in the game (i.e. create your own levels)? HOWEVER,
you could make your own game with the ripped levels, if you know how to set up the game engine.
But basically, asume you can't modify a game company's original game, only make edits to another version of it (that would be your own).
Now, Drolpiraat, which version of the game is it? You said Revolution, but on what platform is it? I'd like to know since I'm really looking for a way to get the textures - either for studying of the art style so I can replicate a similar form of textures, or for direct use if I decide I don't want to create (all) the textures myself. So for that reason, I'd like to know the quality of the files. As has been previously shown to me, people have successfully taken the textures from the N64 version and as that's really really awesome in itself, it sadly lacks the quality I seek, but that's only because of the platform it was made for.
Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
I haven't made any program myself, just a little tool to extract the game's files. It's as if everything was packed in a *.zip file, and I unpacked it. That still doesn't make everything readable though...Shrooblord wrote:Drolpiraat has made a program himself, I think, which does it for him. I found out which engine the game uses (Renderware) and found several tools to extract things from other Renderware games (GTA). To be able to extract the models and textures correctly, there should be a simple modification to one of those tools, but I have no idea how to make that myself. If you want more details and/or help out, go here. I will post a detailed tutorial when someone helps me out.
Also, the palette means the colours. I'm missing the palette, so I don't have the correct colours. That means the textures look kind of trippy now.
There are some images (Ubisoft screen, "press start" screens, but not much else) that don't require a palette and have already been ripped. They're mainly beta screens, so that's kind of interesting. It also looks like the developers had fun while making this. You'll see when I post them.
PlayStation 2. Rayman Revolution is the PS2 version of Rayman 2.Shrooblord wrote:You said Revolution, but on what platform is it?
How then? Not an in-game 3D "recorder", I hope? Like 3D Ripper DX?that3Dguy wrote:i found another way to rip the geometry (and it's easy)
I'm not sure about this. If someone makes it possible to convert the models to a readable format and then back, it would be difficult but not impossible (I know how to do it) to put the files back into the game. It is already possible to change a few other files, but it's not really worth all the work.RayFan9876 wrote:No, you wouldn't be able to change it and put it back into Rayman Revolution, just rip it for your own use and others' use.

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Ah, a PlayStation 2 usually has quite good graphics for its games. Could you compare the graphics to the PC version (with the resolution hack)?
Also, I'm a bit interested why you chose the PS2 version, and not any other, for example the PC version, because it requires you to somehow link the PS2 game to your computer to extract the files, no? Is it because Revolution is a more expansive game and has more aspects to it (I don't know the game - just heard about certain things)?
Sorry, I'm not really that technical in the 'hacking' stuff... I wish I could help, and I know there must be people out there that could - for goodness' sake, there's people who hack military machines and that must be a lot harder than opening a simple game file.

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Rayman Revolution is not your usual R2, it is Revolution. It indeed has some extra stuff here and over.
What I believe was initially done was using emulator to play R2, then messing with GPU so polygons are saved or even dumping RAM. Then came direct file use.

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
Oh Renderware? I know that engine. I might even hitch in on this.
Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
I just find a pity that the textures of RR have lower quality than the PC/Dreamcast ones.

Re: [RIPPING] Rayman Revolution Geometry
See, PS2 was not as powerful as they said. Or something.
