Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Or the fog option on image effects in Slender! Chapter 1:Alone.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I would like to expand my idea on a City World, maybe for Rayman Legends. It could be themed around superheroes and crime fighting. The scenery could take place at night and have locations such as; allies, the sewers, skyscraper rooftops, the streets, underground hideouts, etc. The enemies can range from thugs to henchman. The Dark Teensy's level could probably be something like a supervillain's lair/hideout. And maybe the boss could be some doomsday machine/robot unleashed upon the city. Though making the city have the Glade of Dreams feel to it is the tricky part. Maybe it could be the bad part of Picture City, who knows?
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
A City level, huh? Most of the worlds encountered in the series have either been natural landscapes or old architecture, there have been no modern/urban areas, so that would make an interesting change.
And maybe Picture City does have some bad areas, who knows! (Though in Rayman 1 that entire City was a bad area!)
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
But it had a happy atmosphere to begin with. I want a dark, gritty night time city area. Maybe have graffiti, spray paint cans for the theme to fit the theme?

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Maybe it could have both a city AND nature feel to it. The way the Rayman Animated Series does, and how the subway trains move with the forest and the roads are dirt yet still drivable.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I would prefer the total Urban atmosphere though.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I reckon a Picture City urban environment would be cool. It could be urban, but still colourful. With pencil skyscrapers and stuff.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Aw shet! Didn't even think about pencil skyscrapers!
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Heck yeah pencil skyscrapers! I'd imagine the city would be one of those really artsy cities (Duh) and have lots of little theatres and circuses and stuff.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Though, I still prefer the gritty tone to it. It can still be colorful, just have 'em dark schemed.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I think Picture City can be made to look rather sombre with the right sort of atmosphere. I tried to do that in this drawing I still haven't finished:

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
That is nice. Maybe I'll do my own take on this urban area.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Hm, a city world, eh? Bit like Gotham City from Batman: The Animated Series? Or more Metropolis?
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I was thinking more Metropolis but I don't know what Bradandez has in mind. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen Picture City portrayed as an actual city, aside from in that picture I drew.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Indeed, makes one wonder, doesn't it?
Hm, the DCAU had a very Art Deco-esque look to it, does that fit in Rayman?

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I'm not familiar with DCAU, so I can't be the judge of that.

Short for DC Animated Universe, essentially the 90's Batman and Superman cartoons, and the two Justice League cartoons that followed them.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Well, I never watched those! I was never really into superheroes.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
a good background or obstacle for the dark part of Picture City could have a giant pencil sharpener with a numerous amount of sharp holes, giving it kind of a decayed building feel to it
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I was thinking more of Batman: The Animated Series. I think it would be interesting.
