Ridley has changed sizes many times as well, so it's a moot point.

This looks perfect to me.

But Ridley has consistently been portrayed as much larger than Samus. The only exceptions are the original Metroid, due to hardware limitations, and a three second cameo in Melee's opening (which could easily be an error or a compromise, as it was pretty much the first time Nintendo worked with CGI - and in either case, a non-canon cameo doesn't mean anything compared to his portrayal across a whole canon series).

Though I think that's enough Ridley talk in the Rayman for Smash topic...

EDIT: JUST OVER AN HOUR UNTIL THE MOMENT OF TRUTH

My heart started to pound when I saw this picture in the morning, damn! I'll really have a fangasm if Rayman gets confirmed to be playable. But I start to think that it will be a Rabbid character that will be revealed. I mean, Rabbids can use several objects as weapons like plungers, they shout, they are... well you got it.

This could open the possibility for battlefields based up in the Rayman/Rabbids universe too.

Also, remember that Mario and Luigi skins are playable in Rayman Legends for the Wii U so maybe this reveal of SSB could be a deal?

If they include Rabbids, then I expect many people to start complaining. Also, in my opinion, Rayman can have way better moveset than Rabbids if we count his R3 powerups and such. Rabbids were in TMNT Smash-Up (Smash Bros clone game made on same engine) btw.

I remember when in 2008 there were (fake) rumors about the presence of Rayman in Super Smash Bros. Brawl:

We are sure that this time we can assume it with more certainty?

Rumors about Mega Man for Brawl existed in past too so could it be that SSB 4 will finally make all fans happy?

I do not know why, but I somehow doubt that Rayman will be inserted in the next Super Smash Bros. title (unfortunately).

Watched the trailer, seems like it was focused on another series that I'm not familiar with, though it confirms Captain Falcon is still in.
Well, it seems a trophy is the best we've got for now, then. Still, it's something, and I'm glad Rayman's been inducted in some manner.

Yeah, the newcomer was Robin from Fire Emblem: Awakening (both female and male version).

Also, Lucina from the same game is a skin swap for Marth, and Captain Falcon was confirmed.

Don't lose hope, he is maybe locked character with Ness and others. Those never get revealed on trailers but are secret in-game if I remember correctly.

Rayman is the sort of character they would reveal. We may get him yet, but don't pretend it's likely.

Assist Trophy at most, is what I will hope for.

Also, BYE BYE GEMATSU

Not sure what that's all about with this Gematsu thing, but anyways, I share Brawler's sentiment on this.

Aside the 3D model developed by Ubisoft, is there any reliable source that states the possible introduction of Rayman in the next Super Smash Bros.?

Probably not, but at least we have a new fire emblem character that doesn't mainly use a sword

I don't believe anything, which wasn't confirmed yet. It would be a great disappointment to believe in something and then in the end it turns out to be all fake.

Ehh, the fact that Rayman's a trophy is quite nice, but if he's not a playable character which looks to be the case if you asked me, it seems like a missed opportunity on Nintendo and Sakurai's part that honestly I could see Sony try to capitalize on if they made a second Playstation all-stars, which i've heard they might be doing but have never been bothered to look for confirmation on, of course, it would be Ubi's choice in the end but hey ho, this is nice all the same, nothing life-changing, nothing even that exciting, but its pleasant.

The Gematsu/Sal Romano leak is a "leak" from an "inside source" that people are taking as Gospel mainly because it predicted Wii Fit Trainer (except not by that name), and most of the other newcomers thereafter. However, there is no actual proof that the information for these characters is coming from the inside. Sal Romano is getting these leaks from an anonymous source, he claims, but he hasn't shown any proof that said source is actually in the know about behind the scenes stuff regarding Smash Bros.

The characters it listed were...

Pre E3 2013 (and he claimed they would all be announced at E3 2013):
"Animal Crossing Guy"
Mega Man
"Wii Fit Person" (I think that was it, I know it wasn't actually "Trainer" though
Little Mac
Pac-Man
"Mii"

However, Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mii were not shown at E3 2013 like the leak promised.

Then, hours before the Smash Direct, it "confirmed":
"Pokémon from X & Y"
Palutena
Shulk (from Xenoblade Chronicles)
Chrom
"Chorus Men" (likely referring to the Choir Boys from Rhythm Heaven Fever)

As well as re-iterating that Pac-Man and Mii would be in the game. It also claimed that Lucas would be cut, if I'm not mistaken, and that DLC is being considered for the game already.

Since E3 2014, only Shulk, Chrom, and Chorus Men remained from the leak's list.

However, there are many reasons to doubt the leaker, that people chalk up to human error:

-He never predicted Rosalina & Luma at all.
-"Animal Crossing Guy" could have been anyone from that series.
-"Pokémon from X & Y" is EXTREMELY vague.
-Wii Fit Trainer also lacked an accurate name (though it's easy to assume that he meant the trainer)
-The timing of many characters didn't match up with what he claimed.

And a few hours ago, when asked about who would be revealed today, he simply said "Enjoy Shulk".

However, not only has his timing been off yet again (Shulk could still appear, but Sal Romano's claimed timing for Shulk's reveal was incorrect), one of the character's from his leak has been outright de-confirmed as a playable fighter (Chrom - seemingly part of Robin's Final Smash, and he isn't listed on the site at all), and yet another character (two if you count Lucina, though she seems like a skin swap for Marth) has been confirmed that he never mentioned.

but hey ho, this is nice all the same, nothing life-changing, nothing even that exciting, but its pleasant.
Just that it would be good by Nintendo, as well as other third-part producers, recognize once and for all the respect and fame that Rayman deserves, because it isn't second to anyone.
Do not enough just take advantage with market strategies by sending development kit, by entering into agreements and requiring exclusive contracts for the Rayman's brand as happened in the early 2000s, it is time for Nintendo to go even further if really want to demonstrate ulterior confidence and esteem for Rayman's brand.

Indeed, a character with the Rayman's ability would be perfect for a game like this!

At least Rayman's in Smash in some sort of way. That's good enough for me!

I'm not going to lie. Rayman looks freakin' hideous in that picture.
I really hope they don't make him playable because the way that model looks, Rayman would pretty much be the worst-looking character in the roster. That would be bad advertising.
