We KNOW how to open console games and mess around with them. It's just that more people have the PC version.

Huh? You KNOW how to screw around with console games?! I thought that all modifications were only really for computer games...

So, if I wanted to screw around with R1 PS1(while playing it on PS3) how would I go about it?

I mean like playing the entire game while riding Moskito, and changing backgrounds and music whenever I want, and planting magic seeds outside the Dream Forest!

Stuff like that!

The Half-Life games on PC have a multitude of modifications...

If they can do it...

This is what I think we should do: Get a master programmer to add a whole bunch of new features(like the ones I mentioned above). These features should be incorporated into the game in such a way that they can be accessed via the Pause Menu! Imagine it! You're in Gone Heights and you're falling to your death...then you hit the pause button, select "Ride Moskito" and then fly back up to safety! And get a Caves of Skops background and Mr Dark's battle theme music while you're at it!

I know it can be done...

Nice, but, we want to open and change the files, not get some set of sprites that was not ripped from the game but printscreened anyway. -_-
And we already know about that spritesheet and many others.

Spiraldoor, you can decompress console games because they very often use .iso files. Do console games use any file type that can be readed with a computer for music and video's ?

And first we need program's to view files. Opening files with Wordpad can give us some cloe's but we'll know much more when we use software that is mainly developed to view those files :wink:.

And thanks for the good explanation Drolpiraat, i'm starting to understand some things about these files now.

doesn't make whole sense. Lots of people have got PC version, right, but R2 rom for n64 is just small, if I remember correctly. 16miB, 32miB or 64miB.

Yeah, those are the names of the areas, just like how they did that in Rayman 3.

@ stan: The N64 version's easier to mod, yeah, but more people would like to see the PC version modified before the N64 version than the amount of people that would like to see the N64 ROM modded before the PC version. ;)
And, stan, you've got that Slapdash in Rayman 3's Fairy Council level, right?
Can you send me a zip file ( you know, with yousendit... to [email protected] ) with EVERY SUBFOLDER ( not just the folders, but their files as well, but no files in GAMEDATABIN ) in the folder located in "your installation folder/Ubisoft/Rayman3/GAMEDATABIN/" except the 'World' folder?
That'd be great. That way, we could look at the difference in both versions and find a way how to create Slapdashes! ^^

EDIT: O.K.. I understood you. But this is about 700miB and yousendit has 100miB limit!

You're wrong, that's maybe about 100mb but CERTAINLY NOT 700mb...
Remember, only the subfolders ( except "World" ) and the files they contain. NOT the files outside the subfolders of GAMEDATABIN ( like the *.cnt files that contain the textures ). ;)

Anyway, see you tomorrow.

And it doesn't matter whether it's the Polish version or not, it's just a translation. It doesn't affect the level files, only the text files.

Drolpiraat, what software do you use to open this files, i've been looking in the files with Wordpad, but i can't find anything readable.

Of course not, I also use Wordpad, but if we could find the exact same level with only one difference ( Stan's version of Rayman 3's FC part 3 and ours ), and we know what the difference is ( the Slapdash at the beginning of that level ), we might find the code to make Slapdashes appear. ^^

So you wan't to compare decoded level files ? That's going to be hard, but it's doable :D.

But in what folder is it ? I've been looking in C:\Program FIles\UbiSoft\Gamedatabin\Intro_17, am i even searching in the right folder :roll:.

What i know about the folder's is this :

Wood folder : Level files Clearleaf Forest
Swamp folder : Level files of The Bog of Murk
Sea folder : Boat level
Mount folder : Summit beyound the clouds
Tower folder : Level files of The tower of the Leptys

EDIT: I used another service, Droolie. It is called MailBigFile.
