How did you know about?
Anyway, great that they finally announced it! I'm really looking forward to it!

This deserves a trailer, because we don't how the controls will be.

I hope they brought a couple nice additions there and there.

Sadly I won't be able to play it since I don't own an iOS device. I hope the port will be later available for Android devices.

I made
this for a laugh, just in case it has any effect on an Android release.
mostly for a laugh though

I'm looking forward to see what engine was used to rebuild it for iOS. It's probably either Unity or UbiArt, both of which would be great. Unity especially, as that would mean it wouldn't be so hard to just grab the code and the assets, drop it in Unity and mod the hell out of this thing. Well, it would be a bit harder and more time-consuming than that, but definitely easier than previous Rayman games.

That's dependent on whether it is a straight port or an HD remake. Right now the evidence is pointing to the latter, but I'm not counting on it.

It doesn't need to be an HD remake for it to be rebuilt, though. They don't have to modify the assets, but they do have to use different code for a large part of the engine: it needs to run on iOS, it needs to have touch controls, probably different internal resolutions (so that the game scales well on different screens but the touch control icons don't scale with it), and so on. To port it, it's probably easier to just take the assets, some of the code and drop it in an engine like Unity or UbiArt. Square Enix did the same with Final Fantasy IX recently. It was completely rebuilt with Unity for Android and iOS even though it's more of a port than an HD remake.

I can't fathom how the controls will work. I guess a virtual joystick and buttons? But then either way running will be awkward...let's hope they know what they're doing.
And yeah, I really hope this is a pay-once-and-you're-good deal, because releasing R1 with microtransactions would be like scribbling on the Mona Lisa with crayon.

Just push the virtual joystick slightly to walk, push it further to run, push it down a bit to crouch, etc. That would be very intuitive if the sensitivity is just right.

iOS? ah, you mean that obsolete tablet and mobile OS thats only available ln overpriced underpowered devices were 90% of the price tag is devoted to a flat mould of a half eaten appple?

Yes, for just 2.99 a pop you can buy extra lives and continues with your real world hard earrned cash.
Sorry if I'm sounding a little cynical, but i've been in a fowl mood as it is, and it sounds yet again like Ubisoft is setting this up for failure, So if anyone like me needs to be cheered up, let's all laugh at an industry that never learns anything teeheehee.

Ah, so it is Rayman 1! I'm pretty happy about it, but I hate the fact that it's only for iOS.

wtf is going on guys? There is actually no point crying for that, I mean, okay, it might not be to Android but whatever? I shall remind you this is not an exclusive game nor a new game and I do not even have an iOS but an android device, but boy it's just a port of Rayman 1, it's not Rayman 4 or anything like that. Furthermore, I shall remind you that Rayman Adventures has first been to iOS THEN Android, so there are a big chance it'll be ported to Android. I mean, why whinning that much? It's just a game. Keep cool, and keep loving Rayman!

I do to actually, but still, doesn't change the fact that I hate seeing people complaining about this. It's Ubi choice, they do as they want, and I remind again that Adventures was ported aswell to Android after iOS version, so don't lose hope!

Given the difficulty of the original game that could prove a lucrative business model.

Espcially when the super health costs 4.99 and the gold fist 3.99
Or you can buy the ultra pack for 6.49

It might be their choice but it makes no sense from business point. Android has more users.

It's their preferred mobile OS to develop their games on and once it's done they get to work on porting it. if they were to develop the Android version first it'd take way longer.
