I feel a similar way with ketchup actually.
Been slowly shying away from ketchup over time. I still use it, but not quite as frequently on everything. For example, I now have nuggets and fries with ranch instead nad I've opted for omitting ketchup when eating SPAM.
I can remember hating to use ketchup. But now I don't really mind it. I guess I like it when it is warm rather than it being cold. Barbecue sauce was my main condiment.

Anyone find it weird that people use ketchup on rice. I have been told that it is 'normal' to do. But I don't know what to believe..

For me, that's normal. But that's bc I eat rice with a lot of things.

Well I do have Asian roots after all. Where my parents come from they eat rice with a lot of things.

My flatmate in first year of Uni used to eat the same thing every day, a massive pile of chicken with a side of ketchup on rice. I had no idea anyone else engaged in this filthy behaviour!

I would never use ketchup with rice, for me that has to be curry sauce.

I hadn't heard about that either, but it sounds wrong. Like something someone would create by accident if they tripped while carrying a tray.
