I could detect some stuff caused by emulator, like speed not being constant. You say other Jaguar games use this chip better?

I have to bump this because it appears that Virtual Jaguar updated recently their page:

http://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/

And it appears that Rayman is workable now in recent SVNs, but the problem is I cannot find the links for it. Can someone investigate this?

If you also check this topic, you can see a screenshot of the upcoming 2.0 emulator, running Rayman: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/18 ... 0-release/

I don't care much about the game, I just want the music. But, ooh! Pacman!

I care about both things, the Atari Jaguar version is unique compared to the other ones. If the emulator gets fully workable for the game, and my recorders are compactible with it, I definitely have to do a walkthrough of this.

What's the difference besides the music?

Candy Chateau's level structure is completely different from the known ones, and Dark Rayman does not appear.

I tested the most recent version and I can only tell you it's a bit slow. The older version posted here works a lot faster, much better for recording the audio. I don't know if the new version crashes less though...

I've seen footage of that, but somehow I always thought that it was the Saturn version. :o

As long as I know, Saturn version is relatively normal. It has some extra graphical effects. However PS1 version is considered superior because of some sprite work and extra music.

The Sega Saturn version had interesting things like the PC animations instead of being in the loading screens, it was everytime Rayman reached an Exit Sign, and Mr. Dark's Dare level, when the battle is over the windows' glasses breaking all.

EDIT: I've tested the emulator's recent SVN and indeed it is still a little slow, but the rest works great. I can't wait for a definitive fix in the speed. :D

I don't like this version, simply because D. Rayman doesn't appear :?

Sorry to go off-topic, but that paragraph on Rayman3DS's signature gave me several heart attacks of happiness.

Anyways, any news on the game?

The SVN391 Virtual Jaguar makes Rayman 1 playable, however the game is still a bit slow.

I'm waiting for a definitive fix.

May I ask where? I've been dying to see the differences between the PS1 and Jaguar Châteaus.

I wished the emulator had the correct framerate. Or else I could have recorded that.

Sorry for double posting but I have great news for everyone. :D

The version 2.0.0 of Virtual Jaguar was finally released and I've tried to test Rayman 1 on it and the framerate is very smooth now. The music works also perfectly and sound effects work fine (they sometimes glitch a little, other times they play well, but nothing serious).

I think it is safe to say now that everyone who was curious about this version, you can try now!

I'll create a link tomorrow containing the emulator and the 3 roms of Rayman 1.
