Just so nobody here thinks I'm crazy, the 'rumored' announcement was true.
Phantom Pain will be releasing September 1st, 2015. It's a bit of a wait but it's better than waiting 9 years like Big Boss. :)

Being a PC gamer this gen I've no doubt I won't be able to get collectors edition, unless some type of DLC is included.

Kojima also announced this will be the last MGS game (but he also said that with MGS 3 and 4 so who knows). What I think? It's never too late to call quits. There are still many other characters in the Metal Gear universe that can have stories told. The Boss who is one of my favorite female videogame characters- I'd really like to see more of her story.

According to Kojima, Snake/Big Boss won't be talking very much in this new addition. Rather Kojima wants us to soak up the characters around him, I do like this approach.

Edit: As expected, PC gamers are getting Phantom Pain 14 days later... damn it Kojima. Stuff like this makes it suck to be a pc gamer.

I don't normally do this, but what the heck, it seems relevant.

Time has passed a lot since my last post here, I've been waiting in anticipation for Phantom Pain. The game is receiving 9's and 10's across the board, and being hailed as an incredible finale. To think we'll actually learn about the creation of Les Enfante Terribe, the creation of the three clone Snakes. And we will learn of Big Boss's descent into villainry.

I'm so hyped, I have it pre ordered on steam!... But as you all know I still don't have a PC... So what do?
Well, I'll unfortunately be stuck with the PS3 version for some time while I wait for my PC. Mediocre frame rate aside on PS3 version, I won't let it affect my enjoyment.

As I said in a french forum, due to the recent events at Konami, I'd be cautious about the reviews. After all, let's all remember that Final Fantasy XIII was rated 101/100 in Famitsu.

(also I won't play it right away due to the lack of a high-end PC or next-gen console)

Look at all the gameplay trailers, they've practically shown us half of the game at this point. There's good reason to assume it will be awesome, especially since it's going open world. The fact that this will be the game to reveal everything, makes it sort of impossible to suck. Even Ground Zeroes, which was a one hour demo, was an awesome opening mission to Phantom Pain

I understand your worry, remember the crummy MGS 4 ending Konami forced Kojima to implement?
Kojima is gone from Konami, and I can guarantee the ongoing drama must be Kojima fighting to not have any changes to the game. I'll eat my own words if the game does end up being meh to me but still. Even when you see small journalists praising it, it has to be worth something.

Rayfist, did you play Ground Zeroes on PC? If so, how was it in terms of performance?

I'm just telling you to cool off the hype. To be honest right now that's not MGSV that's worrying me. That's Star Wars 7.

The game is really well optimized for even low end PCs, I have an extra steam copy if you're up for a trade.

Awesome. I have some faith in the PC port of PP then, so will probably end up getting that.

Got nothing of worth at the minute, but if I end up getting something I'll hit you up.

Holy shit I'm dying XD

Of all the bosses in MGS that stand out to you so much as confusing you what title he was from- you think of Fatman.
Fucking done. It was such a poor boss fight that even those with not much MGS knowledge would remember what game he was from.

Even Dead Cell pretty much gave him the "fuck you"

Sorry for the double post, but bump

I'm still fixing my PC, hence my absence on RPC, but MGS V is out... Today! I'm getting it later but I'm extremely hyped for it! Really haven't been this excited to pick up something on launch since Rayman Origins!

Tactical Gambling Action, hm?

It does look rather impressive, I have to grudgingly admit.
