Really? The PC version has redbook music. The Saturn version has redbook-quality music so I would have thought it had Redbook music.
spiraldoor wrote:So, I am reasonably certain that Moskito is pink in it.
Ah, but it has multicoloured spiky fruit! Do you think that's a mistake too?
I was talking about the redbook tracks that are exclusive to the PS1 version, which I listed in the RayTunes subforum. And didn't think that the Saturn version had multicoloured spiky fruit.
What exclusive redbook tracks? Redbook is CD audio!

Redbook's CD audio, but are you talking about how some versions of the first Rayman seem to be missing songs (not sure which exactly besides Forever), spiraldoor?

The German original Rayman and Rayman Gold are other examples. He's talking about how RayTunes is missing the music that isn't CD Audio.

Someone (I think it was Stacey) mistakenly said that the extra music in the PS1 version was redbook. That was the first time I had even heard the term, and I didn't know that it was the same as CDDA.

well it's definitely something and it's not ripped the same way the CD music [which I definitely know is .RAW format, possibly raw audio] is.

It's in the *.VAG format, I think. There are converters for that, but it's almost unrippable ( for me ) due to the fact that the VAG files are also stored in an unknown type of archive, so you can't just take the file and put it in a converter.

By the way, Ancel said in an R2 interview that he drew inspiration from Finnish or German or French fairy tales or something...it was on IGN; I'll see if I can find the quote...

Yeah, I've heard about that somewhere. I'm pretty sure it wasn't IGN though, as I never go there.

It is on IGN. Here:

Q: What were some of the biggest influences on Rayman 2, in term of art design?
A: Rayman 2 is based on a fantastic background that includes contemporary touch. My sources of inspiration are numerous and mostly unconscious. When I was a kid, I used to read all kinds of stories: Russian, Chinese, Celtic, etc...Rayman borrows different elements from all these universes, but adds a more contemporary and cartoon touch. Tex Avery, among others, inspires the cartoon aspects. Rayman is a true high-performance hero who keeps a good sense of humor like Indiana Jones, for instance. He is also a rebel, fighting against the bad guys, as in Star Wars or Robin Hood.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I would be interesting if we could find any of those stories he borrowed from.

Yeah, I know. However, I wanted to keep my post short and non-confusing.

that magazine wrote:The R-man lives in a fantasy land beyond our universe. He must restore peace to his world by defeating the evil Mr. Black and retrieving the Great Proton.
