@Phoenixan: How do you add non-steam games? Does this mean you don't need the disc anymore?
@Hunch: Rayman 2 is available in the US store, but not the EU one unfortunately.
You still need the disk, and some games (such as Dungeon Siege II) don't work with Steam Community because of the cheat and piracy protection software.
Think of it as just being a shortcut for your games, where you can open them up and keep connected with your friends while you play.
There are a few weird glitches with it though once in a while, like in Spore (non-Steam version), I open up Steam community while editing my cell, and when I close the editor, the steam logo pops up on the creature just because of the way the textures are stored in video memory.

Is it possible to play games you have on Steam while you're offline?

Only single player games (HL2, Bioshock, etc.). FarCry 2 and Spore are a bit of an exception, because both need to check their servers for validification. Oh yeah, Crysis too. What sucks about FC2 is that if you get banned on the RZ forums, you're banned from playing multiplayer online, just because your forum account is linked to the game. :\ Kind of stupid when the RZ admins have been banning people for the reasons they've been banning for.
At least, that's what I kind of assume, since I wanted to play the game and appeared as being IP forum banned at times (while on the road).

That's fucked up o_O
I ask because with the new Football Manager games you get the option of installing them through Steam. But if I lose my internet (this happens more often than it should) I still wanna be able to play the game, which is all offline and single player.

Yeah, it'll work.

When you open up steam, and you don't have internet, just sign into offline mode.
