I must stay aware.

If they can release Rayman DS with beyond shitty graphics I don't see whats stopping them from doing the same with Rayman DSi, that is if they haven't learned from RDS.
The graphics weren't THAT bad. Polygonally, they were actually the same as the N64 version or at least downgraded to the point of the PSOne version. In terms of textures, they do appear further downgraded, but it's not that bad. It really just looks strange because there's no anti-aliasing involved in the DS whenever there's 3D texture mapping.

True. Hopefully this one won't be like that, I can't however see it being a 2D game.

Haha, I'm sure they'll have other colors. The resolution is going to stay the same as before so that sucks. The games won't be have any filters or upscaling to help cut down on larger, chunkier pixels.

When does it come out?
Or is it the exact same one that i found info at ''the Future of the Xbox360 and DS'' topic?
Japan release date is November 21st, but I have no idea when it will be released to the rest of the world. The articles say it will be called the DSi XL though.
Maybe it's not for everyone? Personally I was wanting the DS to have bigger screens all along more like the PSP. The DSi was an improvement, but it doesn't change that they've had such a low resolution all along. I'll take what I can get though.
I doubt Rayman DSi will be a remake of Rayman 3. That would be way too tough to fit on a handheld game system that just barely is capable of what a Nintendo 64 was capable of. Not to mention all of the visual effects Rayman 3 had that (lighting, water, many specially designed textures) probably is not capable of being displayed on the DS. Rayman 2 works on the DS because they are using the most scaled down version of the game (Rayman 2 64) in terms of texture resolution, graphics, and sounds.
I'm guessing the Rayman DSi game will look closer to Rayman Raving Rabbids DS? I wouldn't mind if it were 2.5D like that game as well.

Oh god no, not a 2.5D one... I don't want another game that plays more like shitty PS1 Disney games kthnx. :C

Yeah, the other colours are brown and white. (Boring colours, bleh.)

Then there's no point in making the screens bigger.

from what I've read, it's designed for people with bad eyes, or something? Bleh I dunno, I tend to like having VBA blown up a bit when I'm running games on it.

Are DSiWare games limited by download size? How big are they compared to a normal DS game?

Well picture this. Warioware Touched on the DS had about a little more than 10 playable stages as well as bonuses. Its DSi counterpart, Warioware Snapped, only had 4. It costs 500 DSi points.
The highest "priced" DSiware game is called
Thorium Wars which costs 1000 points. Some of others like Mario VS Donkey Kong: Minis March Again cost 800.
So if we really want a good Rayman game on DSi, we should expect it to cost around the 800-1000 range rather than the 500.

So the best we can hope for is an N64-ish-standard game?

Unfortunately yes, because it's still not powerful enough to make it look more like it's on Gamecube.

Is there a single 2D platformer on the N64? If so, I've never heard of it, but it may give us an idea of the standard they might be aiming for with Rayman DSiWare.

Yoshi's story is a 2D platformer.

With a mix of 3D too.

It's a 2D remake of Rayman 1 and it's out in America today.
New features:
Take advantage of new features in the Nintendo DSi version, such as the Nintendo DSi Camera, map selection on the touch screen and the ability to play against time to win bonuses.

I hate when companies sell old things as new.

Yeah... someone here has to get it and see what it's like.
Also, it is in our interests that this sells as well as possible.

I highly doubt this'll sell more than the Rabbids.

Ubisoft must be made aware that people are willing to buy more platformers.
