Regional lockout or something FTW. Unless you have a screwed TV, that is.

If everything is OK with your PS2 and TV, only thing that comes to my mind is due to some WTF special "features" of consoles some emit game's home signal type. So if you had European PS2 and force it to play American RR, it could emit quasi-NTSC signal which European TV could interprete as black-and-white only.

I'm almost sure Henchmen aren't referred to as 'Red Lums' in German.

If you haven't neither Rayman M or Rayman Revolution for the PS2, you could try to get the 10th Anniversary pack.

Not late at all.The why was the 10th anniversary in 2010 instead of being in 2005? For some reason they use the R2 realease date to decide the anniversary year...

Here are Russian names and their transcriptions/tranclations of Rayman Origins characters which I've found on my manual...

Рэйман [reɪmahn] - Rayman.
Глобокс [globoks] - Globox.
Пузырь-Сновидец [puzɪ*r'-snovidets] - tranclates as Bubble-Dreamer (*sound "i" is, err, "hard". there is no same sound in English).
Малютки [maljuːtkɪ] - Teensies, tranclates as "littles".
Электуны [elektunɪ*] - Electoons (*again "hard" sound).
Люмы [ljumɪ*] - Lums.
Волшебник [volshebnik] - Magician, the word actually tranclates as "Wizard".
Бетилла [betilla] - of cource, Betilla.

There aren't mentioned other nymphs concretly and, as I remember, their names weren't mentioned in game (at least in PC version), so I have no idea how their names were localized.

There is no official localization of first Rayman, but as I know Rayman 2 and 3 were officialy localized, so here are some names from these versions:

Фея Ли [feja lɪ] - Ly the Fairy.
Тинсы [tinsɪ*] - Teensies; this aren't actually "tranclation" of the word, it just some kind of loanword. (*again "hard" sound).
Полокус [polokus] - obviously, Polokus.
Мёрфи [mjorfɪ] - Murfy.
Злумы [zlumɪ*] - Hoodlums, literally - "Evillums" (*again hard...)

Others are not so interesting because of being just loanwords...

2010 was the year Rayman Origins was announced, the 10th Anniversary pack was released in 2005, check RayWiki: https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Rayman_10th_Anniversary.
Also, remember The Daily Bubble? It has a reference to 1995, I think it's clear Ubi know when Rayman began.
