Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Heh, my laptop has 452 GB (if not counting my 1TB external drive I use just for storaging things).
Still it's quite an improvement for me, because my old desktop PC had only 80 gigs. :') I ran out of space all the time back then

Yes, yes it does.MrBadGuy wrote:Most of my hard drive is filled up with uncompressed audio files from Logic Pro, as I do a lot of music recording/production. Each project alone has on average 50 tracks of uncompressed data. Using an external drive for these is a pain, which is why I'm so happy to be upgrading to 2TB internalSpanex wrote:4.5tb? 2tb? I won't even manage to fill my own harddrive and it's 1tb. Let alone I have a 1tb external drive with the only purpose to backup and safekeep ancient files. Whatever do you guys stash inside those things besides music and movies?Does this make me a computer geek?
When 1tb was just new, I still had my first own pc and it had 40GB. I only ever got it filled to half, so I'm not worried about getting this one full.Tricai wrote:Heh, my laptop has 452 GB (if not counting my 1TB external drive I use just for storaging things).

Why yes, I have an entire physical drive dedicated to Steam & Steam Games. Eliminated the Half-Life 2 stutter bug back in '04 & '05, so it kind of turned into simple habit.
My Passport is an external that I keep art and uncompressed video on.
Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
That looks clean and organized. If I ever might run out of space, I'll consider doing it this way too.Phoenixan wrote:

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
I definitely need that, there's way more in my Steam folder than 80 GB, and I don't even have enough space to install all my games.Phoenixan wrote:Why yes, I have an entire physical drive dedicated to Steam & Steam Games.

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Get ready for presumably worst thing ever about TF2: I and my friends assume that custom map will be downloaded separately for every Steam user on same PC. Don't ask why would you do that, TF2 with friend on your side is fun and it'scheaper to use a few PCs lying in same house than make everyone buy a laptop.
Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
In my Desktop computer I organize in this way: Disk C is where the Operating System is installed and normal programs and drivers; Disk D is where my games and personal data, goodies and random GBs of junk are stored and Disk E is to store backups of important files. The Diskstation that I access it via LAN cable I also store an extra backup of important files.

Oh I have way more games than I have installed. When I'm finished playing a game, and I know I probably won't come back to it for a long time, off it goes and (sometimes) onto a DVD.DesLife wrote:I definitely need that, there's way more in my Steam folder than 80 GB, and I don't even have enough space to install all my games.Phoenixan wrote:Why yes, I have an entire physical drive dedicated to Steam & Steam Games.
Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Oh wow. XD You must've been very organized then, I didn't even have many programs installed and I remember filling that 80GB up in no time! Guess I just hoarded too much stuff.Spanex wrote:When 1tb was just new, I still had my first own pc and it had 40GB. Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
It's that I don't keep a lot of music in my computer. I listen to the radio on internet more often than I listen to the songs I do have in my PC. I also tend to 'archive' old files in my external drive after some point.
Music eats a lot of space. Movies too!

Most of my junk are picture collections, music, videos and ISO backups I've done.Spanex wrote:It's that I don't keep a lot of music in my computer. Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Haha yes, it must've been music/pictures and ISOs for me too.
But I also have most of them archived in my external now. Ever since I got this laptop I promised myself not to clutter it with too much junk.. still doing extremely well after 2 years!
Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
I really don't understand why people have like 2TB. I have 500GB, and I have 3D animation and editing programs, and alot of other crap on my Pc but I still have 105GB left!

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
My 15'' laptop has 1,5TB free storage (actually they are 2x 750GB Seagate Momentus installed, but I bridged them together with RAID0. The result was 1x1,5TB)

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
My laptop has an 150GB HDD, 10GB is for recovery, the other 140GB for Windows and everything else.
Needless to say, when the time comes to replace my laptop, I'm hoping to get one with a larger HDD, as I've come close to exhausting the available space on my current laptop many times.

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Aah, this topic. Let's see…
For internal memory I have:
- 320 GB
- 640 GB
- 640 GB
- 120 GB (SSD)
- 2 TB
For external (that I always have plugged into my computer), I have:
- 320 GB
- 1 TB
- 2 TB
So that would equal out to about:
7.04 TB!
I've all-together used up about 4-5 TB of space so far. Albeit while about 1 TB of space is taken up by renderings and such and about another 1 TB is dedicated to downloads, I also have five operating systems installed (98, XP, Vista, Se7en and 8). My Steam folder is about 300 GB, taken up largely by custom mods and addons for Garry's Mod, and my tens of CryEngine projects (perhaps between 15 and 30) take up about 500-600 GB. Then there's audio software and projects; That stuff takes up around 1 TB of space on my drives. The rest is mostly software.

And if you actually used those 3D animation programmes to their full potential, you would find that rendering an entirely uncompressed, 30 FPS AVI at 1440p, takes up roughly 600 GB per-minute.jonas333 wrote:I really don't understand why people have like 2TB. Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
Holy crap.
I've met my fair share of power users, but not to that extreme, quite a hefty build you must have.

Re: How Many GB does your PC have?
I honestly don't need so many TBs for my junk, but I admit I'm thinking in getting a 500GB/1TB external hard drive for extra backup.
