I wonder which regions of Portugal you visited. Probably Lisbon.

Iambored, it seems as if you idolize America and one would be lucky to live there. I myself would say it would be lucky to live in any other first-world country than America, as their economy is abhorrent. I liked Europe far more than North America. Why? The people are more considerate, they have a decent economy, they have better food, it's MUCH cleaner, the food is far better, people are healthier, people seem to have more passion for what they do, and their history is actually moral and interesting. What's the moral of America's/Canada's story? We caught Asians and Africans as slaves and made them build our roads... and that's about it. Not to mention Southern USA, that hellhole (excluding Florida, that's quite a nice place). Sure you can sit back and enjoy yourself, but their economy is built upon people doing what ever they can to get out of doing other things.
Every non-ignorant American I ask say that they would rather get out of that country as soon as possible before it collapses on itself.
I also know for a fact that a lot of southern USA history/social studies teachers lie through their teeth, changing stories they tell to students so that they perceive Americans to be justified in everything they've done.

Why would you care, though? History isn’t meant to have ‘morals’ or a ‘meaning’. It’s reality, not a story to teach children what’s right and wrong.

I've been in The Netherlands, Germany (awesome food and drinks

), Denmark, Greece, Curaçao (an island) and Aruba. (another island, near Curaçao)
I'm going to Turkey in 2012, although I'd prefer some other European country.

Every Israeli in the 12th grade goes on a field trip to Poland to see the death camps and the Ghettos and such. Who knows, maybe I'll see my great grandma's house which was stolen from her when she escaped to Brazil. So... yeah.
@Rayfan, firstly, Europe has got just as ugly a history as the USA, if not uglier. Secondly, I have a deep dislike to Europe which I tried to conceal on account of the fact that this is a mostly European forum. Thirdly, Israel hasn't got no gaming industry and America's got the best after Europe. Lastly, I understand American culture. I live it. I'm not sure I like it much, but I feel close to it.

I don't want to explain my dislike in fear of offending you guys. Let's just say I have very logical reasons.

And America < 30 years ago. Actually it's still going on; America isn't exactly on top when it comes to the tolerance agenda. They always seem like they're behind Europe, trying to copy them.
