That's insightful, thanks for sharing. I wonder if Soliani's departure from the company last summer could have anything to do with this.

Thats... concerning.. I mean, a new Rayman game.. But what's the point if AI's involved and that no one is happy working on it behind the scenes?

I don't think l'll buy this game unless changes are made to its development, cuz if AI is involved then i'm not interested at all.

Don’t tell me you’re one of those people who just assumes anything to do with AI is bad :boon:

I think he meant specifically generative AI, and if that's the case I'm also very concerned. Let's hope this just remains a rumour though.

I doubt they’d make it completely based on AI, maybe just to generate a few visuals then they touch them up themselves

No, i mostly mean generative AI. I mostly only care for ones who take peoples jobs, not ones that help find cancer or stuff along that line. Though lets keep on topic

This is sorta on topic since it’s discussing our thoughts on AI within this series. But I think we should steer it back on track before this topic gets derailed completely

Bro, it's Ubisoft we're talking about. They have been in complete disarray for a few years now. Nobody should have high hopes for this supposed remake because there is quite a significant chance that this project only exists to rev up the IP and entice Tencent to buyout the licence.

And if they don't, it might not be considered a safe investment enough that it might be scrapped several months down the line.

I knew that it almost felt a bit too good to be true…

Master wrote: Wed Oct 23, 2024 3:42 pm Colour me genuinely surprised. Considering UbiSoft's history, I'll admit I have mixed feelings even if this does turn out to be true. I'm not sure how substantiated the claims about Ancel are, but I can imagine morale there is pretty low as-is, and for good reason considering the stuff that is substantiated about other UbiSoft members. I really hope that if this is in development that it isn't going to turn into a toxic shitshow.
Well in light of these rumours, and not even a day into this announcement. UbiSoft never fails to disappoint. I know I've been a bit snide but part of me legitimately hoped that maybe...just maybe, in light of all the shit that Ubi's embroiled themselves with in the last few years...they'd get their arses in gear. But it sounds like things are already in a troubled position.

If these rumours are true, i feel really sorry for the devs then, cause it sounds like there was a lot of passion towards this project...

To be honest, if they wanna revive it that much, they could obviously send the project off to a team that genuinely cares about rayman and take a nice share of that money, don’t see why they’re so anxious about them having to be based in France

I doubt it’s particularly French though, I’d assume it’d kinda be like like difference between the UK and the States

Indeed it does! I’m also gonna stay optimistic since that’s what a lot of the community is lacking sometimes

Technology has always "taken" people's jobs, and no matter what the Luddites thought in the 19th century, I think we're all pretty happy to not be working on handlooms anymore, unless it's for fun. But it has also created many more types of occupation, and I don't know why generative AI would be a different story. Sure, it has entered the space of creative occupations, but if an AI creates better illustrations than some people, then maybe they ought to find a different job!

Again, it's an incredibly powerful tool that can lead to great productivity gains when used in a sensible way, and it doesn't have to replace the entire process. Dogmatic opposition to such technology, regardless of its uses, is counterproductive and doomed to failure.

Lols, now you choose to worry about that?

I find it somewhat amusing how this is the one thing we can reliably count on with them lately :oops2:
