But wouldn't the eyes have to be animated and stuff? Perhaps a static one isn't so high on my list for the time being.

Oh, and on a side note, I just wanted to clarify on terminology. What I call "Characters" and "items", the proper term in Rayman speak is "events." Am I correct?

Also, the thread looks really interesting! I haven't read through it yet, but I'm excited to learn whether or not Terminapor's engine could perhaps be the starting point for creating a yellow prickley or, better yet, a Madam Trystora....

Yep, items/characters/entities are called 'events.'

RayEngine is quite intuitive in its map-making (it's imitating the Mapper basically) and has its own sprite/events creator, specifically built for people to create their own events. It has some of the things only seen in the original Rayman and other exclusive versions such as foregrounds, rain and thunder. It's basically a work-in-progress imitation Rayman Designer that has more, more, more! than you could ever want. Obviously it's currently unfinished though.

That's very encouraging!! I would check it out once I get back on my laptop. :)

Now, if only I could figure out why my designer game isn't recognizing my Map99 file.....

At anyrate, it is almost 2 am in the morning. Mee needs to sleepzzz nowzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Have a good night! And talk to you in 10 hours or more. :P :P :P :P

Really? :o Did you share this with anyone before? I'm guessing you used Terminapor's method for hacking the sprites into the WLDs, right?

Hey, what's up, all?

I'm revisiting this age-old topic for one very specific reason: where can I get my hands on RayEngine 4.0 now?

Does anyone have it? Can you forward it to me?

Thanks.

If you mean the project by Terminapor, it's not available at the current time.

When do you think it might be available?

The project seems to have been abandoned. :(

Wasn't a lower downgraded version available at one point? (Before the mediafile file expired)

I'm sure someone still has that lower version, right?

Someone might still have it but I remember that I myself removed it since you couldn't really do anything with it.

Well thank you.

I would totally like to learn how to turn these things into events.

#1 - Green Floating Ring - As contrasted with the heavy descending Red Flying Ring, The Green Floating Ring will float upwards upon Rayman's Swing.

#2 - Barbed Dark Ring - Really an ordinary Flying Ring, with a mere added danger: Rayman's power points are deducted upon contact with the barbed point at the bottom.

#3 and #3a- Blanca's Tranquil Ring - Similar to the "Sleeping Cloud" platform, the Tranquil Ring temporarily disappears upon Rayman's release of swing; or upon one swing. (either or both ^-^); sound (vibraphone chimes) of the "Sleeping Cloud" disappearing applies.

#4 - Azurian Dispassionate Ring - Will float off in a random direction (up, down, sideways, or diagonally), once Rayman releases from swing.

I love the concepts! Though that Tranquil Ring could be a real pain I'd say.

As for turning them into events, well yeah, you would need a custom engine, and like I said the RayEngine seems to be abandoned.

(Skipping #5) #6 - Floating Power-up - Two benefits in one: Serves as an ordinary flying ring, and also upon release from swing, Rayman regains 1 power point; Ring will disappear upon release and won't re-appear until Rayman has walked to a far-away screen.
