Just to start a conversation, anyone else think the characters are well designed and the humor is really funny?

The humour is a matter of taste. To be honest, I only like EWJ because of gameplay itself, not quite much because of the humour... too darkish for my tastes.

I can agree the humor is dark indeed (maybe that's a reason why I love this game) but the game is excellent with it's controls and unique gameplay. I love the level What The Heck since its music is wonderful and the setting is pretty eye catching.

I found the humor rather satire like a lot of mid-90's cartoons. I found EJ2's humor funnier, But I still agree with Haruka, the gameplay is definitely the best part.
YAY! MY 200th POST!!!

I've recently watched a couple of episodes of Earthworm Jim. I must admit it is kind of cheesy. Though overall I found the jokes very humorous and the characters are mostly close to their video game counterparts.

That's why I think that the big EWJ fans are the ones that would love the series since they are particularly loyal to the games in the oddness and the humour.

So I've downloaded Earthworm Jim Special Edition ROM for the Sega Genesis emulator "Fusion" but it says I need to download the US bios. I've looked everywhere I can't figure this out. When I downloaded the supposed the BIOS, the emulator didn't even recognize them. Can someone please help? Also to make this relevant, I really want to play the special edition since it is the most complete, having the original levels, the bonus levels, and the best soundtrack.

Oh hey! Earthworm Jim was one of the first games I ever remember playing. It's what originally got me so into platformers.
Also, sorry I'm of no help Bradandez. I rarely emulate, and I've never run into any problems the few times I have. I hope you're able to figure it out soon.

The emulator I use is GENS, and I have no issues with it. Can you try it out?

I will but not at the moment. Anyone know where I can get the voices/SFX from EWJ HD? I really want to try something with them. I still don't get why people say the voice isn't as good as the original. In my opinion I say Earthworm Jim's voice in the HD port is rather decent, yet enjoyable.

I have the HD version but I got disappointed to not see the Big Bruty and the Lights level.

Yeah, I can why those are major disappointments (especially, since Who Turned Out the Lights was part of the original game), though the voice is not really to complain about and the only reason the developers used remixed music instead the Special Edition music was because Tallarico owned the rights to them.

Certainly a wacky series but I ADORE it! It is SO much fun! It's one of the few, classic platform games that I still adore today!
Does anyone else know that there was a show about it? XDDD

I know it and it was thanks to the show I learnt about the games. I like EWJ's first game mainly because of the gameplay and graphism itself for the time it was released, which was something different (And the style of humour too). Now the show itself I think only the true Jim fans like it, the humour used isn't quite my style.

My mom was a really big fan of EWJ so growing up, while the show was still airing, I would play the games and watch the show concurrently. Occasionally she would sing me the EWJ theme song before bed instead of my usual lullaby. I don't remember the show very well but I've always enjoyed EWJ's humour so I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it even now.
Ah, I do remember that the great secret of the universe was a snowglobe within a snowglobe within a snowglobe. Just an infinite chain of snowglobes.

May I know how old are you? I'm just curious since you were talking about your mother being a fan.

Sure glad I'm not the only one. But yeah. Same here. I'm bit of a fan for both. XD

Earlier today I went to my local Swap Meet and went to to an awesome shack named "Fighter's Corner" and they sell these amazing products; from video games to action figures and all that. Thought that isn't the point (I got a bit off track there), I bought a copy of Earthworm Jim 2. I played through it once I got home and this game is pretty awesome. I loved it. It maybe easier than the first one but until the last level "See Jim Run, Run Jim Run!" and that sh*t's f*ucking hard and really intense. I almost beat the whole game using no cheats, just that level screwed it up. EWJ 2 is really fun though it is really short with the player being able to finish the game in a few hours depending on their skill.
What I really love about Earthworm Jim 2 is that most levels are played differently from the one before. Like in "The Villi People" you have to play as salamander to traverse through the level. And in "Level ate" you constantly run away from the salt shaker and avoid the hazardous objects; like the straws and forks. Finally, "The Flying King" you have to fly around on the rocket and escort the bomb to Major Mucus. In conclusion Earthworm Jim 2 is equally great as Earthworm Jim 1 and I consider it one of my personal all time favorite games.
