You know looking around the internet, I forgot Rayman is French so I looked up a European plum this time and I can see where the plum's design came from. Although I still would say the mangosteen is a better matchup than these.

Well, I wouldn’t say MangosteeNGK has the same ring to it, so I’m glad Ubisoft decided to call them plums

Yeah, I can't imagine the word "mangosteen" being used in context in-game. Can you imagine, Murfy stating how Globox is allergic to mangosteen juice?

The Rayman1 / Designer walkthroughs at KMG Associates used to call them "grapes", which also made sense since they grow on vines in that game. Whereas real plums grow on trees…

Are you referring to the old fan website?

Apparently it still exists! :D http://rayman.kmgassociates.com/

Hmmm, how fascinating. How old is this website exactly?

That could be plausible, they’re the same color and grapes usually make wine or juice. I don’t know of anyone in real life who’s had an allergy to any of these fruits mentioned here…..globox sure is unique indeed!

I was about to comment how impressive it is that both KMG's website and rayman-fanpage.de still exist (and of course, RPC as well ), but upon checking the latter, it appears to be down (not RPC, Rayman Fanpage :fou2:). I wonder when that happened and if this is going to be fixed, but could it be the end for this landmark of the early 2000s Rayman scene? :o

As for plum juice, no, I've never tried that, despite eating my fair share of plums in my life. It doesn't seem to be a thing in France, though prune juice is fairly common.

That’s a shame. RIP rayman fanpage, 2000-2024

Aren't prunes just dried plums? Am I right to assume then that plum juice and prune juice taste the same?

Yup, prunes are indeed dried plums, and that makes juices to have a more concentrated sweetness 8)

Hmmm in that case maybe prune juice would be more to my liking since I do prefer sweets. Though isn’t prune juice also a laxative or something…. :fou:

It is definitely known as a laxative, and yes, the taste is indeed different.

I see, so we have several different names for these fruits that are supposedly called plums in Rayman’s world: Rayman 1’s fruits have been referred to as grapes and bongo berries, Rayman 2 and 3 calls them plums, and irl to me they look more like mangosteens.

Ahhhhgh, the KMG Associates site was so awesome... it was the first place I ever downloaded something (Rayman Designer levels) from, I think when I was 8. I was so scared by the "some files downloaded online can harm your computer" warning I stared at it for like half an hour before finding the courage

also apparently 11 years ago I said I tried plum juice? Weird, guess I forgot.
