Well, operating a hair salon is a surprising career change after having held
various CTO positions since 2005.

It is kind of surprising that is not that rare to find a business that contains the word "Rayman" in its name. Sometime ago I found a
page about cutting tools and machinery.

I made a rather weird discovery tonight: "Rayman Rocket" is a thing, has been a thing since 2004, and no one knew.
The domain name raymanrocket.com was registered by Ubisoft in 2004. It is the only Rayman-related domain name for which it is unknown what exactly it is referring to.
Like rayman2.com and rayman3.com,
www.raymanrocket.com now redirects to
www.ubisoft.com .
But "raymanrocket.com", without the "www" is a different story. This one redirects to the Rayman Legends website, much like the other Rayman domain names that were registered later, such as raymanorigins.com and raymanlegends.com . It is also on the same DNS server as websites for Rayman Origins, Rayman Fiesta Run, Rayman Legends Beatbox and Rayman Adventures.
It almost seems as if they had the idea for this title a long time ago and wanted to go back to it in recent years, just like with the title "Rayman Adventures".
What is Rayman Rocket? Why does it (not) exist? Was the Rayman story going to the moon? Is Rayman canonically a rocket?
Now that Michel Ancel is gone, the world might never know.

I wonder if that has something to do with the Rayman's Dream Team promotional VHS video, that features a game named "Rocket: Robot on Wheels", however that was from 1999.

If I had to guess, I'd say it might have been a spinoff of the Missile Command minigame from Rayman 3. That was pretty addictive…

A curious find indeed, Droolie! And in this one case, I doubt we'll ever learn anything about it.

Still a better story than Rayman Origins.

Interesting find. I wonder what they were planning. But perhaps the future will reveal more clues.

Apparently the UK Who Wants to be a Millionaire page referenced Rayman being in Smash.

Funny, I seem to recall having a weird dream involving Jeremy Clarkson last night...

They had more on it here, just interesting that someone is actually named "Ray Mann".

I see, the episodes we get on Virgin Media One must be a week behind, since Bhupinder Kaler had only just started on the one I saw last night. Well, that's something to "look forward to"

I wasn't even really aware that it had been rebooted, I just used to watch it when it was hosted by Chris Tarrant many years ago.

Jeremy's great at hosting it, even if we know the only reason he's there is that he got kicked off the BBC

Uh yeah, there's no kidding.
I don't have live TV so I didn't see it being broadcast but I do have an ITV hub account so I was able to check it out there. The funny thing as well is that this isn't the first time a contestant on an ITV game show has a video game related name - about a year ago there was someone on Catchphrase who was called Chansey. You can imagine the amount of Pokemon gifs that were thrown out over Twitter that evening.

It's pretty interesting though how the owner of the page not only understood the reference to Rayman, but also mentioned Smash. Pretty interesting stuff if I must say. The one named Chansey though, that's something I've never heard of when it comes to a person's name. What are the Chansey's of that?
Yeah my puns are terrible...

There's no thread for this, so I'll just share this here.
I found some tidbits about Phoenix Studio's Rayman 4.
Gaël Chaize was an art director & 3D modeling artist at Phoenix Studio. He shows a render of a 3D environment
on his website with the caption "Rayman prototype":
I also found the person who presumably animated the "Rayman Sings Sex Bomb" video and the Rayman 4 teaser where he gets called by Ubisoft on the beach: Damien Pougheon. He linked 2 Rayman videos on his website, though the videos themselves are long gone (maybe someone should ask him if he still has them?). I think the "Disco party" video might be "Rayman Sings Sex Bomb", but from the thumbnail the other one looks like it's rendered in-engine?

https://dams-animation.blogspot.com/200 ... tions.html
He posted this in April 2006, when the game was already cancelled, and he explains he made these during preproduction the year before.
Lastly, evidence of two cancelled Rayman games. Pascal Cammisotto was a game designer at Phoenix Studio.
On his resume:
2006 : Lead Game Designer sur un jeu "Rayman" sur PsP (annulé). (Ubisoft)
2006 : Game Designer sur un jeu "Rayman" sur Xbox360/PS3/PC (annulé). (Ubisoft)
It seems that the Phoenix Studio game was for Xbox 360/PS3/PC, and either they also had a separate project for a PSP version, or he was transferred to a PSP game afterwards -- which would explain early listings of a PSP version of RRR floating around the internet.

Amazing find! I tried to contact him via LinkedIn, but I need premium to contact Damien Pougheon. Sadly I haven't found any other way to contact him yet
