Don’t tell me you believe that stupid myth too
I have to say, the change in the PlayStation brand over the years has been quite fascinating to behold. Back in the 90s and early 00s the games, they were effectively the target platform. PS3 kinda wrecked that with how hard it was to develop for, but then PS4 kinda seemed to have brought things back to a balance after Xbox screwed things up with the Xbox One's initial launch. PS5 and the Series consoles just don't have the same level of distinction anymore, it feels more down to the services than the hardware. And yeah on that basis, Xbox Game Pass completely trounces PS Plus. In fact I think this is something Microsoft have been a bit clever, cause they seem to be shifting to a Games-as-a-service model, with the hardware being a secondary thing. It's telling that their most recent ad-campaign is how any piece of hardware can be an Xbox.WPTheModder wrote: Mon Dec 02, 2024 11:06 pm I forgot to quote... my bad. This is just regarding EdgeRabbit's post wondering if he should get a PS.
Never had a playstation, never will, but I don't think it's worth it mainly because of the "no games" stuff. I know everyone and their mother says this but it would actually tick me off if I had to buy an expensive console then have to pay for expensive games on top of that when I can chill with a Xbox and pay for a monthly subscription that gives me good games. I don't do console wars or anything but I just really do NOT like playstations. There are several pros and cons though. This is just the main one for me..
I agree with this. I think Xbox is probably more popular than PS, but it was definitely more popular back in the day. I mean, just look at Rayman. He's on like every single PS but only 4 of his games are on Xbox. And they're the outdated versions of Xbox, too. Arena was on the original one, Rayman 3 is on 360 I believe, and the other ubiart games are also on 360. Series S-X whatever, it's just a glorified Xbox one that apparently has better graphics. I have an X but I find no difference other than some things are definitely slightly sharper. Even though I don't really like microsoft (even though I gobble up xbox products), I think every console should have something similar to a Game Pass. You get a catalogue of good games to play, and if you don't like them, you can just delete them at any time.Master wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 4:24 pm I have to say, the change in the PlayStation brand over the years has been quite fascinating to behold. Doesn't mean I completely approve of them mind, I dislike the consolidation that Microsoft in particular seem to be getting into. It feels like a lot of interesting ideas don't get the ability to see the light of day as studios have to make good returns to justify acquisitions, and there's very much a limit to what they can give leading to mass-layoffs and projects being cancelled. Though I think this is an issue in general with the AAA space, there's a saturation point and I feel like it's been reached.
Why did nobody wake you up?
