Super sweet! I like the design of the Hellephant, Kamikaze Boiler and Wildfire Crawler best. Great names too. I'd like to address for the island pic that it's quite busy. Again, when I focus on the individual parts of it, it looks amazing. Such creative ideas to all mash together - I love it. However, it doesn't seem to draw my focus to a particular area and that makes it hard to decide where you wanted the focus to be, exactly. Or maybe every thing on the island is just as important as the thing next to it...?

Well yeah. Everything you see on the drawing is a level, so yeah they're pretty important.

I can probably tone it down when I'm starting the next world, Unkown Aquatic Abyss (previously known as Aquatic Water World).

Are you still working on this game? It actually looks pretty cool.

I sure am. I've just been low key about progress since there isn't much interest in this project. That being said, I have been fleshing out the story to this game and its world & characters. For example, no longer is Elem a cowardly hero. Yet, he has been converted into a simple-minded hero who has a big heart. I'm also trying my best to get a demo out, but that may take a while. I'm glad there is some more potential interest out there, I just guess I got to do something new.

Have you been working on a playable version? Have you started programming yet? What language/game engine are you looking to use?

Will the art style be like in the images? I like the look of it.

No. I've been meaning to try and animate, but I lack motivation and the proper tools. Maybe if my computer wasn't dying I could finally start doing so without the worry of my computer randomly crashing programs.

The engine is something I need to research. I have knowledge of any good 2D engines.
Ambidextroid wrote:Will the art style be like in the images? I like the look of it.
No. These are just silly doodles for the time being. The real art style will be hyper realistic with boring, dull colors to contrast it.

Nah, I'm screwing with you. This will be the art style of the game. I had ideas pop up that were the art style would change for some levels. For instance, one level would be entirely in claymation. If I can't find a reliable 2D engine, I may have to abandon ship and go with the possibility of having "ELEM, JEENS, & ELI" entirely rendered in 3D and play as a 2.5D game.

Claymation... awesome. Love to see what you do with it. :)

I'd love a good 2-D game like this, reminds me of when I would hand draw game designs as a kid

Sadly, I don't think this maybe in the final product. It would be too much work and I heard that claymation is pretty pricey. But one art style I hope to implement is the Donkey Kong Country Returns "Silhouette" style. Please take a look at this lazy example I've made. Background is totally mine.

Thanks. It's nice knowing this project still has people interested. Hopefully next year I can do something more.

Neat idea! Though I'm a bit confused about the stark contrast between shadows on the skin parts and a distinct lack thereof on the others. And I thought that with claymation, you meant drawings that looked like claymation and then an animation technique that would resemble it, thereby faking actual claymation.

Yes, it could be confusing. Rest assured that this was a lazy example, so it may change. What I was going for was that the hair, clothes and accessories be the only things that pop out from the sprites.

I did have that idea to fake claymation, but I held back on saying it because I thought it would have been dumb. Though, faking it would be a good substitute.

A radical artstyle change like that would be very daring and interesting at the least. I'd love to see if you can pull it off and make it fit somehow. If it does, it's brilliant. It'll always be quirky at the worst. ;)

I guess you're right with that.

In other news, I think I'm finally done with the revised Level names and these should be the FINAL, FINAL drafts for them.

Yee, something smells fishy.

Anyways, I do got one concept I'd like to share. KA-BLAM!

I thought of this when playing the newer, better Donkey Kong Country games. Though I did have an earlier version of how the rocket was gonna play out, which would have been similar to the "Any Asteroids?" segments from Earthworm Jim. Tell me how this looks because as always feedback is appreciated.

Other things I am working on are new enemies for Sky Cloud Country and Evil Lair Lands, the redesign for Unknown Aquatic Abyss, and writing out the story.
