Are any of the graphics improved in R2 ports? Like, are the fingers of a Ninja Pirate more clearly visible, are textures improved, etc.?

Nope, the DS version was an exact port of the N64 game; the iOS and 3DS are ports of the PC version, plus they use the Isle of Doors for some reason. However, in the 3DS version, the explosive kegs are now round instead of being hexagons.

The iOS and 3DS version were ports of the DC version, in the original trailer for Rayman iOS, it showed a DC exclusive animation:

Except that many glitches that did not appear originally in the N64 version appeared mysteriously in the DS port. *Cough cough* Lazy Ubisoft! *cough*

Ugh I don't think that was even Ubi that developed that version, it was some really bad Scottish company that's long defunct? All my hate to playing the Echoing Caves there. :confus:

The Precipice; the music is so awesome. But the same could be said for the Sanctuary of Water and Ice. And basically every level. And, the Sanctuary of... Rock and Fire? The one with Umber, anyway. It's (one of) the best level. And... Oh screw this, nearly every level is nice, although I dislike the Echoing Caves a tiny little bit.

I know that, but going with the facts that they have the PC menu screen, PC graphics, and no Globox Village, I'm much more willing to state that they are the PC version with the replacement Isle of Doors. In the actual 3DS and iOS games (both of which I've completed 100%), nowhere does he do the "Dreamcast animation," which further proves my point.

I see, in that case, I'll shut up.
I wonder what would happen if Rayman 2 did have a proper HD facelift, complete with improved models, I'd love to see the guardians with proper hands, rather than clenched fists all the time.

*Isle of Doors, but yes.

Nope. Other than the barrel, they're the exact same.

I think they touched up the lighting here and there, but the PS2 and DC versions remain graphically superior.

There is no need to question it. Rayman 2 for the dreamcast was UNDOUBTEDLY the best in my opinion. :D I got the game in mint condition for a cheap price.

You shouldn't say a word unless you own the DC version or at least played it. I praise the DC version because it is GRAPHICALLY and gameplay wise the best. The ps2 version was good, yes. The HUB world was a wonderful thing to explore and a really lead to a whole new experience of R2, but the dreamcast version was better for its minigame vmu features, FULL 60fps, and in general it all worked out, it seems to have the best graphics out of every version of R2, it seriously looks gosh darn gorgeous.Hell! Even the ps2 version even LAGS a bit at times around the HUB worlds sometimes!

PS2 had minigames too.For me graphics look very good too.HUBs even get you more in the game, giving a better impresion of a wide world full of creatures. It didn't lag in my PS2.Some redesigned things, like Cave of Bad Dreams,to look better.

Nothing more to add

TeensieKing wrote:PS2 had minigames too.
The minigames in the Dreamcast version were all original, but several of the minigames in the PS2 version were cannibalised from other parts of the game. The developers chopped and changed and rearranged so that they could call the minigames a developed feature, and they neglected to include the Globox Village, a creative and logical minigame hub which easily beats Ly’s dull scrolling menu. None of the new minigames created for Revolution even come close to the quality of the Globox Disc, which remains the best Rayman minigame to this day (although they really damaged it by removing the introductory cutscene showing where the Globox Disc comes from and how it fits into Rayman’s world).
TeensieKing wrote:HUBs even get you more in the game, giving a better impresion of a wide world full of creatures.
I find the Front highly restrictive. In the other versions, the size of the game’s world is limited only by our imaginations. In Revolution, every level is within a one-mile radius of every other level. Even if I considered this reduction in scope to be an improvement, the Hall of Doors would be too high a price to pay.
