Are you referring to the point that in RO world are much more cliché and normal-ish without that beautifulness and weirdness that makes Rayman's usual worlds? And that some of that was already lost in Rayman 3 where the levels were less imaginative and mystical? If so I agree.
I don't believe Rayman 3's world was any less magical, other factors detract from the magical nature, such as the childish humour, and Globox idiotic babble.
In areas where Rayman is alone, such as the Summit, I always did feel the familiar "Rayman" magic I was accustomed to, as there was nothing to detract from it.

I can actually see a big relation between Rayman 1 and Rayman Origins. Most of the gameplay mechanics are lost, but the abstract universe was somewhat recovered.

I do in the Summit, the Fairy Council and the Longest Shortcut. But I don't know how you can make Clearleaf Forest, The Tower Of The Leptys or the Bog of the Murk feel magical. Desert of the Knaaren can have that tension feeling Cave of Bad Dreams had, but still much less magical.

Recovered? For me RO's backgrounds look quite the opposite from R1: Earthling VS Fantasy.

Weren't there flying mountainblocks in the Mystic Piques? Giant instruments in the Desert of the Dijiridoos? I can see the 'worldly' aspect that you all mention, but you can't say it's 'like Earth'. It shares similarities, but the Origins world is still very much otherworldly.

I don't know what you're looking at, but no.

I liked the change that occurred in Rayman 3, and Origins did a great job at it too, having elements from the environments of all three games.

In other words, Gourmand Land = Candy Chateau, Mystical Pique= Blue Mountains , Desert of Dijiridoos = Band Land. NOT EXACTLY the same design, but basically the same concept.

About the lost of mystic atmosphere in R3 : I think this video is quite good for a mix between the mystical atmosphere of R1/R2 and the humour of R3.

About my opinion of the Rayman series, I agree with Ad'. The only problem in R3 is maybe that some parts of it could have been improved just a little more in order to make it a greater game. It's a great game for me, but I can't myself but being unsatisfied )'=...

I didn't think it was possible, but Gumsi actually sounds crazier in the French version!

I always thought that the French voice acting is way better in Rayman 3 then the English voice acting I got stuck with. Especially Globox

That's what I've been saying the whole time. Both R2 and R3's voice casts are much better in French than in English, and the difference is more notable in the third game. Even characters like Murfy, André, Roméo and Gumsi sound totally different.

I think when they were doing the English casting for Rayman 3 they just got 'ALL STAR CAST' happy, and it didn't work. Billy West as Murphy is okay, but John Leguizamo is not Globox :P

Leguizamo should have just stuck with Baz Luhrmann films WHERE HE BELONGED.

Back on topic: I didn't play Rayman Legends at MCM because a) I was too busy with my comic village table, and b) it was in a WiiU section again and the queues for it were even worse, even with two separate queues for over 18s and under 18s. Oh well.

I liked Leguizamo as Globox. To be honest, does he really have to be the nicest character ever? It just feels rather boring to me...

Also, should there be a topic for the Wii U system? This is Rayman Legends discussion, not Wii U discussion.

The problem lies with the drastic alteration of the character and the forsaking of the traits which made the character likeable to me, of course, the new personalities will have their own audience of people who prefer that personality over my preferred.
GNineify wrote:This is Rayman Legends discussion, not Wii U discussion.
A common problem with all of the main Rayman topics here, is that they tend to go off-topic quite a bit, if things stray too far, the mods usually intervene and put us back on the straight and narrow.
Going off-topic is an inevitability, given that we don't always have a relevant topic to discuss, accepting that fact makes things much easier.
I don't think we really need a Wii U topic, we already have a Nintendo topic which the Wii U can be discussed under anyway.

Well, well, well, looks like Rayman Legends' friendly competitor NSMB U has a new enemy:

it's called "Nabbit". I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE INSPIRED THEM TO CREATE IT? IT LOOKS SO NEW TO ME :mryellow:

It's like Shy-Guy meets the Rabbids meets Bowser Jr.
Meh, I'm more curious as to how it looks compared to traditional enemies in the series.
