Well no, they don't stop at all. Once they kill Rayman they go back to their idle prowling.

I'd guess it's the Gorilla Pirate from Rayman 2.

Might wanna give one last clue and let everyone reanswer.

Clue #2: This object moves towards Rayman when he's still quite a distance away and doesn't stop until it reaches him.
Clue #2A: There is no way to stop this object (i.e. it can't be destroyed while coming towards Rayman).
Clue #3A: This object is friend, not foe.
