But that model looks weird and out of proportion - the body is too high from the feet and the head is too close to the body which is also too long

I think that the '1.5' is fine. The subtitle 'Revenge of the Dark' I'm not too sure about, though. It sounds kind of... clichéd. Titles that contain the words 'Revenge of the...' aren't that creative. Also, something that doesn't make much sense to me: is the phrase 'the Dark' used in the title just an abstract reference to Mr Dark? I think 'Rayman 1.5: Dark Revenge' sounds a bit better, but you may be able to come up with something else.

The R1–R3 model makes more sense and should be kept, though it could do with some more work.

By the way there's no connection between R1 and R2, or R1 and R3.
The design doesn't really mean a thing since it's drastically changing with each game.
And I don't think it has to do anythin with the plot, more with the evolving graphics.
That's not true.

It's a metaphor. I think. Either way, I think the title could be changed a little while still referring to Dark Rayman, e.g. Shadow of a Hero, Forgotten Enemies. But don't use those names because they're pieces of crap.

MrBadGuy I think you're taking things the wrong way here. :P The only reason the Rayman 2 model I custom made looks so effed up is because I had to fit it into the bones of a CryEngine2 AI character. There aren't any custom animations. The Rayman 3 model wasn't animated, that was just a prop. I'm going to be using the Ubisoft R2 model and spicing it up by making things more 3D, and then making custom animations so it looks nice. Don't compare the future to what I've done right now in that aspect.

I thought that might be the case actually. That's fine then :P

Now stop there, I'm fine with an arguement, but not with a flame.

Now that's something.

Very well:
Bloodgrey wrote:I don't think it really matters which model do the designer use since the game is not official. :)
Fanworks should not disregard the information presented in the official series simply because they can. 'Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark' is intended to take place between the events of Rayman 1 and Rayman 2; using the model from Rayman 3 would be a violation of believability and common sense.
Bloodgrey wrote:By the way there's no connection between R1 and R2, or R1 and R3.
Are you saying that Rayman 1 is not 'connected' to the rest of the series? That is untrue. Clarify what you mean by 'connected' and I will continue.
Bloodgrey wrote:The design doesn't really mean a thing since it's drastically changing with each game.
No it's not. The design remains consistent throughout Rayman 2 and Rayman 3, with Rayman 3 deliberately evoking many visual motifs which were present in Rayman 2. Rayman 2 retained the forest, mountain and cave environments featured in Rayman 2; Rayman 4 was at one point planned to revisit the other locations. And the design of a game set between Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 should be a mixture of that of Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 if it wishes to retain any credibility.
Bloodgrey wrote:And I don't think it has to do anythin with the plot, more with the evolving graphics.
That was vague, but the removal of the fantastical environments of Rayman 1 in subsequent games (if that's what you were talking about) is not due to 'evolving graphics'. It is due to reasons known only by the development team. And such a distinction between plot and graphics cannot be made – an anomalous element of a fictional universe may have a real-life explanation, but that is unsatisfactory; an in-universe explanation is also required if we wish to retain any semblance of logic. Still not sure what you meant by this one.

Who said anything about a flame?

I meant, of course, to refer to the R1–R2 model.

But I can't get the model until someone just freaking takes a rip of a frame of Rayman Arena standing still in battle and sends it to me! It takes 2 minutes to do this shit if you want to get it over with. Plum, since BB seems to ignore it whenever I ask, I asked if you could quickly, but you ignored that also! :( I NEED this model! I don't see why it's so hard.

All you have to do is download 3D Ripper DX, launch Arena in it, press the rip key when you have Rayman standing as normally as possible in battle, go to your ripped textures/frames folders, drop those two in a RAR or ZIP, upload it to FileFront or MediaFire or something, and give me the link.

Someone already did it (check the 3d model ripper topic) and as I said: I don't know how to get Rayman M to work again at my PC. It crashes everytime and can't install...
