Re: Rayman Legends
Companies try to ride on current trends all the time, remember the smartphone and tablet boom?
To be fair, PlayStation already had a go at motion controls with the EyeToy, and it was pretty fun at the time.
But what's done is done I guess.

Re: Rayman Legends
The EyeToy wasn't any huge or mega selling item, yet some people seem to continuously bash the Wii "Ripping it off". To me it makes about as much sense as claiming the PS3 3D Glasses are a rip-off from the Virtual Reality Stuntmaster.Master4lyf1 wrote:Companies try to ride on current trends all the time, remember the smartphone and tablet boom?

Re: Rayman Legends
As a current Nintendo player, I don't really mind what Microsoft it's planning, really. I'm not even afraid about Xbox 720 being better than Wii U, I'm pretty sure Microsoft will be the last company to release the next console, and the way they're moving makes me think that they're gonna focus A LOT on gimmicks. I wouldn't be surprised if Smartglass ends up being a beta for what they're really trying to do... some sort of tablet controller like Wii U's gamepad. Yeah, my expectatives on Microsoft are THAT low. In the other hand... Sony might kick Nintendo's ass with the next console they come up with, at least in terms of graphics, memory and whatever they come up with.... but well, the Wii U will sell better, as usual, basically because PS consoles are expensive as fuck in comparison to Nintendo consoles, and well, kids and families love Mario.

Re: Rayman Legends
What the hell are you talking about? Kinect was pretty much an experiment and their very first 'gimmick.' It's hardly a gimmick though, because as an experiment they also were smart to opt it as a multi-purpose device: it's also a webcam and a motion-capture utility for 3D animators.sergiomonty wrote:As a current Nintendo player, I don't really mind what Microsoft it's planning, really. Smartglass hardly even has to do with the console and its games. At the very least it's a remote control, and at the most it's an extension for games. If anything, the Wii U's controller is more gimmicky-compared to the Smartglass because it'e both integrated and required.
Microsoft is easily the least gimmicky out of the three.

Ad, just *sigh* cut the crap, you know exactly what happened during this year's E3. Gimmicks here, gimmicks there. Oh, and Wii U, but nobody cares because Nintendo is lame.Adsolution wrote:

I dare you to say that Smartglass is not a nonsensical gimmick for people with money, I double dog dare you, you knuckle buns.

Re: Rayman Legends
Why of course I did! When I first finished the Cave of Bad Dreams, I was at such a young age that it actually took me quite a while to figure out I could make him choose the other option! xDPluMGMK wrote:Well, if Rayman decides to take the Treauser instead of the Elixir, he is punished for being greedy. And just to bring this back up...
How does that answer this question?sergiomonty wrote:That's punishment.
The 'punishment for being greedy' part that PluM tried to accentuate above only comes after you've already beaten Jano. All the events leading up to that are completely unnecessary - fun for us and fun for Jano, but not needed, except perhaps as a test to prove the hero's worth. However, the way Jano advertises his coming presence in the Cave makes me think that he has evil intentions - more than just ones.Shrooblord wrote:Where did you get the notion from that he's punishing Ray for being greedy? He showed up on his doorstep in order to get a magic elixir that would cure his friend's severe ailments.

Also, fun and slightly related anecdote to the ongoing discussion above, Bill Gates was the one who seems to be the first to come up with the idea for a tablet even before Apple came with it. In an interview about the future of the company with both Gates and Jobs in it, Gates was enthusiastically explaining about his vision of this innovative tablet machine. You could see Jobs put on his thinking face and shortly after... tada iPad! Now I'm glad it was Apple that produced it - otherwise the tablet may have been messy and confusing (i.e. Windows 8-style) as opposed to mostly intuitive like it is today.

I thought that was how the game ended XD.PluMGMK wrote:Well, if Rayman decides to take the Treauser instead of the Elixir, he is punished for being greedy. Have you tried it in the game?

I didn't answer any question, I don't know what the hell are you talking about. I just remarked that being devoured by Jano does count as punishment.Shrooblord wrote:How does that answer this question?sergiomonty wrote:That's punishment.

Re: Rayman Legends
I have a feeling he was joking, but let's let Luke himself inform us of his intention.
Re: Rayman Legends
The fat Rayman sleeps in the island since money revealed to be more important than saving the world. Razorbeard conquered the universe and he is now the Emperor of the Glade of Dreams. And that's the story of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, the most well suceeded and critically aclaimed Rayman game of the series.

Well...this was when I was younger. I was tricked into thinking the was how it ended but, then I found out you could choose a different option.Greenbottle3 wrote:I hope so.Adsolution wrote:I have a feeling he was joking, but let's let Luke himself inform us of his intention.
Re: Rayman Legends
The first time I played through The Cave of Bad Dreams I chose the second option and was shocked and nearly fell out of my chair when a fat Rayman was sitting there and the words "THE END" were on screen then...
. Phew... the game reverted back to the choice screen. OH' THANK GOD. Then I went on and beat Rayman 2: The Great Escape on Nintendo 64.
Now On Topic:
I got to try the Rayman Legends demo again today, but this time with the Gamepad. The experience with Murphy is still quite fun, but is a little less exciting as playing with Rayman and Co., but probally will be better in more "frantic" stages like "Swarmed and Dangerous" and the one stage unveiled in the Olympus world (where Murphy holds the shield). Murphy's controls were responsive, accurate, and had no lag whatsoever, The Wii U Gamepad's touch-screen is far better then the touch-screens on DS handhelds and most smart-phones and tablets. The gamepad's screen resolution was nowhere near the same quality of the HD monitor the game was displayed on, but the picture is still sharp and crisp, just not as vibrant, it's about like playing the game on a regular LCD screen TV set. The rhythm-based stages are just as enjoyable with Murphy, and unlike the platforming characters who run and their actions are synchronized with the music, as Murphy you have to keep-up with beats of the songs and sound cues. So far both sides of Rayman Legends' gameplay are well designed and quite excellent.

And no, Ad, you weren't the only one I was too focused on the poor Clark to think about that shit, and it's Jano, so it was obviously a trap.
