I don’t think I’ve ever managed to fall asleep from a nap before. I find sleeping pretty boring, especially if it’s for no reason

I’ve probably told y’all I’ve never fallen asleep before in a moving vehicle, right?

Nah. My autism has been very apparent since I was a baby apparently

Is it a key trait of autism to not like resting then?

I suppose? My mom worked in special education so she knows the symptoms

I don't think I have since I was a little kid… once you're bigger, the seats aren't really conducive for sleep. And those couple times when I was little taught me never to again, because dear god the motion sickness :confus:

Depends how you look at it, but not really. How much rest you need relates a lot more to your body physiology than anything mental. There could be some cause and effect though… generally higher levels of stress are typical in autism (usually because of societal pressures), and stress might make your body not want to rest as much

Oh dear, I wish I could consistently stay awake while I’m driving. Whenever I get really tired there is a chance I can fall asleep at the wheel. Unfortunately even after the very accident I caused because of it years ago, it still happens. :oops2:

Oh nooooo :beurk: How bad was it?
I've had a few concerning driving microsleep moments, they're honestly terrifying. One time I couldn't stop it from happening no matter how hard I'd try, so I had no choice but to pull over even though I was only like 3 minutes from home

Oh it was nothing that horrible, I fell asleep and rear-ended the guy in front of me, the damage wasn't that hard. Unfortunately it was my first accident so I didn't notify the police when I noticed the driver didn't have his insurance on hand and didn't realise I had to until I went home and told mom about it (after she scolded me for sleeping). It wouldn't have prevented the claim made against me, regardless. :oops2:

Thankfully that was the only time being drowsy led to an accident. All other times afterwards I had to either pull over and sleep it off, or drink liquids like tea/soda (coffee's more likely to put me to sleep).

Yeah totally, how dare you, you should know better than to intentionally do things by accident :hap:

You too?? So I'm not a freak lol :mryellow: It makes me feel both sleepy as well as wired, which is such an unfun combination, and the wiredness actually makes it harder to focus on anything. I'm usually right as rain when I wake up though, no oh I can't function without muh morning coffee

I'm guessing it's total posts by member nationality? Now I'm wondering how you gathered the data :paranormal:
