The biggest issue with it is how inconvenient it can be, how far a bus stop can be from your destination, the bus / train getting delayed or just not even going at all etc. Having to rely on it can be a nuisance in that way, especially if you are trying to get to the airport or something.

Very much so, I know it's been an issue when we've gone for events in the city, because we're at the mercy of the timeliness of public transport. On the whole it's rather good, but the chain effects one delay can have can be incredibly inconvenient, to put it mildly.

I did take up cycling for fun for a bit, but I'd be terrified to cycle for commuting, we don't have the layouts for it alas.

I like cycling as well actually, the only issue there is the weather matters etc. Some areas are pretty cycle friendly and it's good exercise as well, but it's not always ideal. It wouldn't be much use in countries where everything is too far away from one another.

That's also true, one benefit we do have here is that there are dedicated spaces for bikes on some trains. Although depending on the train and time, that might not amount to much...

The most annoying thing is the area I'm in is so crappy. There is a bike rental of some sort they have, and some random teens took one of the bikes and stripped everything off it. This just annoys me because the point is to have a service for people with no bikes, then brainless idiots like this ruin it for everyone else.

of course its teenagers. I think them acting out is because there's a lack of places for them to go

Yeah it's not an ideal situation when you're trying to provide better infrastructure, but get prevented.
