Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I know, but my point is, if the letterboxing still appears, then there is still no reason to play the game at a 5:4 resolution anyway.Haruka wrote:I am talking about the glitch in Ad's video.
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
It does appears, but there's nothing I can do since my display is a 5:4 itself. In order to play without the letterboxing, I would need to play the game in a ridiculously small resolution and that isn't certainly something it interests me.

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
You can still run the game at 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions below 1280x1024 even if your display is a 5:4.Haruka wrote:It does appears, but there's nothing I can do since my display is a 5:4 itself. Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I'd rather play the game in 1280x1024 fullscreen unless I were recording for YouTube, in which I'd switch to 1280x720 in a window.
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
There's nothing I can do now that I've started. Maybe it is just me but I'm used to the letterboxing.
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
When it comes to gaming, I am always for stretching the hell out of old games, or playing the new ones in 720p or 1080p.
I remember when I got widescreen monitor, it was not configured to stretch old games and I saw black bars. I was frustrated and could not play it. It took me some time to see where to configure it to be able to stretch games. I could never play again in non stretched resolution.

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I hope that by 'stretched' you aren't referring to literally stretching the image, right?
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
Actually, I play all old games to fit on the screen and my screen is 1920x1080.
One black bar on screen and I get in bad mood. (minus the YouTube videos since they are on small windowas well so I don't mind it)

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
Well, as long as the image itself isn't stretched, I'm obviously going to opt for an expanded horizontal field of view. If it can't and the image will stretch though in order to fit, then black bars it is for me.
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I myself would rather stretch image than black bars but hey, we all have different tastes.

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
Personally, stretching drives me absolutely insane, as it interferes with gameplay, as your trajectory is more distorted due to the altered image, and also just looks like plain shit.OldClassicGamer wrote:When it comes to gaming, I am always for stretching the hell out of old games, or playing the new ones in 720p or 1080p.

However, if you really do prefer the stretched image, simply set the GPU to scale images rather than the monitor.
Similar to OCG can use his GPU to stretch the image, you can set it to keep the letterboxing even at a widescreen resolution such as 1280x720. Also, no one will care if the video aspect ratio isn't completely consistent, or at least I won't. I think it would be a change for the better. I started my Walking Dead walkthrough at a 16:10 resolution, but am going to switch to a 16:9 resolution on my monitor.Haruka wrote:Maybe it is just me but I'm used to the letterboxing.
Yes, he is. -_-Adsolution wrote:I hope that by 'stretched' you aren't referring to literally stretching the image, right?

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I think stretching is shit and I wouldn't allow someone on my computer to play a game stretched even if they wanted to. Fuck!
Re: Rayman walkthroughs
@Tech, The scaling I select on my PC is Full-Screen, I perform scaling on GPU and not desktop and I check option to override the scaling mose set by games and programs.
Resolution of course is 1920x1080
@Ad
Just how I don't allow anyone on my PC to play game without stretching

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
I probably wouldn't either, and would probably turn the stretching off if I was playing on another machine that had it enabled.Adsolution wrote:I think stretching is shit and I wouldn't allow someone on my computer to play a game stretched even if they wanted to. Fuck!

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
My family hates that my LED TV is stretched and they find it annoying to watch channels there
But I don't care. Stretching FTW!

Re: Rayman walkthroughs
Stretching is terrible! It really deforms everything, it is simply ugly. That's why when no scaling is available, I go for the letterboxing.Adsolution wrote:I think stretching is shit and I wouldn't allow someone on my computer to play a game stretched even if they wanted to. Fuck!

It is. IT IS. HOW do you LIKE stretching?Haruka wrote:Stretching is terrible! It really deforms everything, it is simply ugly. But you can still get the letterboxing if you run at 1280x720 and use GPU scaling.
