Those are some interesting concepts, Stan.

I do like your first idea, it would provide a better challenge to more experienced gamers while letting newbies go forth without excessive challenge.

The second idea does sound pretty cool, though it seems a little too intricate for the simpler Rayman of today, though perhaps it is me simply misinterpreting the idea.

I would rather like a new Rayman Designer as a Wii U exclusive. Not only you could place the platforms wherever you want, you could also be able to design your own platforms and backgrounds, program their interactions, create your own heroes and enemies with their personal weak spots and share them with friends. Now THAT's a great use of the gamepad. Also it would have some great Miiverse value, like people reviewing your level design and commenting on it. Did you read this, Michel?
Hmm, so, make Rayman Legends the Wii U equivalent to LBP?
That is a rather intriguing idea, plus, I'd think using touch screens to design levels would be much easier than having to use a joystick and intricate button combinations.

But more art-related. Remember that the gamepad comes with a stylus, you could draw your own platform :mryellow:

Seems like a better idea for a new IP actually, or something that fits stylistic clashes like WarioWare which by thew way already experimented with custom content. If I was specifically asked for Rayman game like this though, I would begin it by developing an usable art editor that would help less-or-more talented users to remain within the style of the game. And yes, I'd go for it anyway - the idea still is cool, though probably not so much for RO/RL gameplay - R1 seems to have way more potential there.

Ah, that's good to hear. I believe it will work similar to New Super Mario Bros. U then. In that game you need to use a normal Wii Remote to control it and use the gamepad to place blocks.

Uh... only in multiplayer. In single player you can't do that with the gamepad.

Technically you can. In fact one programmer doing it was observed during development of NSMBU, according to one Iwata Asks. The implementation is quite surprisng though, you need to play on Wii Remote AND touch GamePad, at least according to what people seem to say. If you are playing as Mario on GamePad, I don't know if this works.

Oh,yeah, only if you activate the Boost mode... but that's practically intended for two players. One player playing with two controllers at the same time is pretty awkward. That's the reason why Rayman Legends wouldn't work on pc, you can't control Rayman with the keybord while controlling Murphy with the mouse at the same time.

That's what I do, and it claims it is single player mode. I put the Gamepad on my lab and hold the remote. Really handy too to reach some high platforms and confuse a few enemies, perhaps making it easier for myself, but currently I want the most I can get out of the gamepad, and Boost mode really offers that.

I'm anticipating Legends about as much as if it were a mobile game.

There's been a WiiU with a Legends demo in a HMV yesterday but there were other people playing it and we couldn't be bothered to wait (rrrg people that don't know how to play platformers in general). The Castle Rock level seems to be a bit different from the one I played at Eurogamer...

Day by day I'm being put off getting a WiiU the more I see third party games being completely botched ie Epic Mickey 2 and Funky Barn, dread to think of how it'd handle Legends if it handles those two so badly.

Rayman Legends is still a game that I have big hopes for. It seems very promising.

So far I think the release titles are kinda poor (Only very few titles escaping of course). Until a new Zelda coming to blow its oponents away we can wait sitted.

Speaking about poor: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/11/21/r ... and-review

I'm already pretty sure Rayman Legends won't surpass the original Rayman but i'm still interested.
At least the soundtrack seems better than Rayman Origins. But I won't buy the wii U before a while.

In terms of graphics, music & gameplay, Legends will surpass the original by no means. But of course, the first is a classic nostalgic game which means that many will prefer that one instead.

I'm not sure if the music and gameplay (in terms of challenge and enjoyment) will be better but we can always discuss that later.

Again, this is something that varies depending on who you are and what you prefer. However, Legends will have many new features than the original which means more potencial to better gameplay. It also includes multiplayer.

And well, the music from the original is beyond great. I love it more than the other games. So the music in Legends will maybe not be better, but still excellent.

More features good indeed enhance gameplay, but they can also do the opposite, too many gameplay styles would only convolute the game.
Montpellier have shown with RO that they can handle local multiplayer, so no doubts there.

graphics: sure

music: Unless they make such gems comparable to Harmony, Picture Perfect, Mr Dark's theme, The Flood etc I don't think so.

gameplay: Ok, it's arguable. R O's gameplay is fluider, faster and easier while R1's is slower, archaic and more rigid but the later, for me, has a non-linear level design, better bosses, more challenge and the cages are better hidden.

So even without the nostalgia, I still prefer the original Rayman.

I still think Legends looks good but I won't be getting a Wii U anytime soon and I'm not as hyped for Legends as I was for Origins as I knew I could get that game on my Wii.
