Aardappel~! Pomme de terre might as well have been terrepomme, but French doesn't work like that. (Potato could've been earthapple too.)

As someone who's tasted lots of raw potatoes, < can confirm that they do seem rather similar in flavour to apples. The ancients no doubt got a bit confused.

But 'Bordel de Merde' can also be used to talk about how worthless a place is.
An example would be Raymanzone, quel bordel de merde.
