I guess its different depending where you live because they sell shitty desktops for crazy prices here.
Then the wasn't being bought from a comparable brand. My advice for desktops would be to ditch any kind of pre-assembled brand and custom-select your hardware. If you aren't sure how, find someone who can offer in good input and have them do it for you. You can build a desktop with the power of a $600 laptop for probably around $200-300. Remember, this advice isn't just for the technically savvy, it's for everyone (hence why I said find someone to do it for you if you can't), because you can end up saving so much money it's ridiculous.

Though for portability's sake that's understandable by any means, but I don't see why that would be the case for anyone who isn't going to University or homeless.

The only thing we found similar to that was Dell but it ended up over 1000$ and without screen, keyboard or anything. I'd get a desktop if I had any use in doing some thing big like you're doing with ROTD, or if I actually needed one. But i'm just doing drawings and playing games while my laptop is build for gaming. I was actually supposed to get a desktop but its my dad's choice, I can't chose what I want because of his "when you're 18 you can chose" thing.

Hm, the reason why I own a laptop now was more due to room spacing issues and the like, there's no desks in our house to host a desktop, that, and I needed the portability it offered so I could move 'round the house if needed.

Yeah that too, I can't move a whole desktop to a couch or downstairs, I don't like staying in my bedroom all day.

Hehehe, I admit, I tend to dwell in my bedroom a lot more these days, I like the peace I get here.
Offtopic: I mixed up "know" and "now" again? Shenanigans be afoot.

I like it too myself but i'm a bit claustrophobic and my bedroom is ridiculously tiny.

I share my room with my bro, who tends to go downstairs, leaving the room to myself, so I have a bit of room to mess about in.

Ahh, i'm glad i'm not sharing my room, it would be even worse of a mess than it already is.

Actually, desktops are cheaper (when comparing hardware obviously). Not sure where you heard otherwise.
When my PC was built from scratch in 2007, everything got for about 1000€, while I see desktops and laptops much more expensive than this and always with an inconvenient, almost always involved with a hardware installed. The result is that my PC still works and holds fine the current generation of software and tasks, and it can still hold for at least two years more.

Well, do take note that all I was saying is that if you custom-build a desktop, you can get one of equal power to whatever laptop you got. Not in terms of making it extremely powerful, it's just equal mediocre power for a third the price.

If I ever need a new one I will think of that before searching for anything then. :)

I really don't understand parents who say that.

I had to share until I was fifteen or so. Suffice to say, it was pretty unbearable for me.

I don't either, they aren't the one that are going to have or use the thing, why should it be their choice. :? My dad says its cause he is the adult and I am not. But come on I'm not 6 years old, i'm 16, soon 17 for god's sake.

Because I am not talking in person to anyone here but by writing, which is easier for me. I have high social anxiety and phobias and on top of it shyness that doesn't help me at all.
