And not such HD remake as Rayman 3 HD. I can scale the GOG.com version of Rayman 2 to even Full HD resolution ( and without lag ), and it looks better than Rayman 3 HD! Even the original game looked better than its remake, but why the heck did they mess up everything instead of just maximizing the resolution to 1080p?
Well, afaik the PC version of Rayman 2 lacks widescreen, using the same trick as with Rayman 3 just causes it to come up stretched, which is a shame.
Rayman 3 in HD resolutions for PC is pretty damn good, more so if you have a graphics card to apply AA and other neat things, heck, it still looks good on my laptop without (though it's starting to lag these days, need more power, dammit!). I think a HD patch for Rayman 3 with a few tweaks, fixes and the addition of some modern technologies which would benefit the visuals and the like could easily make the original PC version a more definitive HD version.
I have Rayman 3 HD, and looking at the original versions.
It hasn't changed much, besides maybe some more crisp textures and textures that are different such as the Gong in the dessert of knarrens.
Rayman 3 HD is Great!! But it doesn't feel like a HD remake, just a bog-standard port really :/
Hm, rather confrontational, there, OCG.
I wouldn't say its the equivalent of say, Sonic 06, atleast HD was somewhat functional in its gameplay, and if you're lucky, you can avoid the game breaking glitch.
That one glitch does pretty much make the whole package the worst port in the series though.
I wonder if anyone ever heard this, after I finished Crystal Palace on the PS1 version, after the world map song was finished the first time, instead of the same song again, it showed the full magician song. I was like, what the heck is going on? Then after it finished, it showed the world map song again, did anyone ever saw that happen?
Objective opinion based on individual and collective experience. The glitches don't seem consistent for some reason. It's safe to say, however, that Rayman 3 HD is a unanimously terrible port, seeing as not only do these glitches exist, they come into play for the majority of people who have played the game. For you to not have run into any is really lucky.
I got it two followed times and forced my PS3 to do a hard drive scan for errors and all due to "inconvenient" resetting but only at the third attempt I passed through. What I really don't know is how these kind of things pass in the Quality Control and/or by the Testing Crew. If I were a tester I would scold the programmers, I could make sure of it.
The only bug I've seen was on raywiki I believe, where the rock does not appear, making it impossible to progress.
EDIT: I think i've heard somewhere that this glitch occours in the original versions, though I'm not 100% sure, please tell me.
I'm going to sound like a mega noob when I say that I've never completed Rayman 1, or even got particularly far with it. I've tried it when I was younger, and to this day and I still can't beat it! It's a hard game! I think it's down to not having unlimited continues. I do playthroughs with one of my best friends and we decided to try Rayman 1, and we didn't even get past band land!
