Well, of course he should at least listen to what other people have to say; I'm sure an online forum isn't peer-pressuring him into anything he doesn't want to do. If he cares about presenting a certain image, which evidently he does, then expecting feedback is only natural, unless he has some deep, emotional attachment to facial hair, which, all things considered, is usually not the case when you're like sixteen.

On the note of being sixteen, it's usually the case where they probably aren't sure if it's working or not. I'm actually surprised at how well Brad's stache was working already, though personally I'd still highly recommend he give it another year or two.

Actually the real reason I shaved is because I found my electric razor and decided to test it out.
