You guys use Norton? gawd that program sucks... It does nothing but slow down a computer real badly. Several friends of mine can back this up. I've used AVG and McAffe, and I like AVG the best. It DOESN'T cause something to freeze up while updating. McAffe does, but it's not not even bad like Norton is...

The best part about having a mac is that I don't have to worry about getting a virus.

Linux doesn't get viruses either, right? So that pretty makes Linux and Mac more secure or less attacked?

What if you install Linux on a Mac?
And no, I don't really use Norton, it was a free trial that came with the laptop. I think
I wonder if I should uninstall it and use the Windows Firewall thing instead...
Since it was when Norton kept asking me to turn off Windows Firewall and turn on Norton Firewall that I got tired of its pestering and clicked "Yes", and shortly afterwards I began experiencing the blue screen which haunts me to this very day...

No, the real thing is far worse. It has bullshit on it. Like "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" and "BEGINNING PHYSICAL MEMORY DUMP 0%" and...I don't want to continue...

I use AVG as well and the whole updating thing is something to get used to. There are settings in there that control its usage and stuff. I used avast on my old computer as well and that was awesome, I might start using it again.
Norton = Ms Krabapel HAH!

Last Blue Screen of Death I got was on my Netbook. Which led me to have to completely reinstall windows! What happened? Simple, I simply opened IE.. JUST OPENED, it froze up the whole system. And I only used IE before to get FireFox downloaded! I waited... still no luck, so I forced it off, and turned it on, and I got a BSoD first thing all the time.
So when I reinstalled windows, first thing I did was uninstall IE. I installed FireFox. I had the setup file on a thumb drive.

Once we installed a Windows update on my parents' laptop (the one I used before I got this one for Christmas), and it completely stopped working. My sister managed to fix it by somehow uninstalling the update.
I think my blue screen problem has stopped. I had to go to the BIOS and reset it to the default settings, because my memory was overclocked apparently.
I wish computers were reliable.
Like rocks.

My desktop's CPU and RAM are overclock.

It runs really well.

Still with the fucking blue screen!
I just uninstalled Norton and I am now downloading AVG. I think Norton was causing the blue screen. I got a blue screen a couple of times when it popped up at me, and this whole thing started when I turned on Norton Firewall.

Norton 360...that name's hilarious if you ask me.
Having Norton is worse than having no anti-virus software installed on a computer (Windows PC, of course) at all. It paralyzes the already-weak systems (it's like Windows--filled with excess code that truely doesn't have to be there.) and really doesn't protect anything. I've trusted systems to Norton before and it didn't detect what I did get and couldn't save the system from it either. Windows security is crap, and I really don't like McAfee either. If this system wouldn't be networked through McAfee, I'd keep ZoneAlarm's firewall and be done with it. (Though it is at least a little better than Norton.)

I use AVG free on most of my systems, and I've had no problems. I also use SpyBot Search and Destroy
