I've just started playing again, and already, my first half-successful attempt to the first combo: 20806 points. I only got 12 gems in combo before the first hoodblaster, because I was mainly practising the second part, and I still fail at collecting more of them, but the rest went fine, I even got the hoodstormer and the gems in the big combo. Only the first part seems to give me trouble.

I played again in the train and got 21348 points this time, with some more gems at the beginning. I definitely need to find a way to get more of them.

I realised I had video of the Hoodlum Combo in TOTL part 1. I made it for the TOTL walkthrough, but for some reason I didn't upload it at the time. It shows how to collect 20 gems before the Hoodlums. Thus you will get them for their maximum value.

TOTL part 1 - The Hoodlum Combo

The score in the video is 24.000+ but I missed some Lums. I usually get around 24.200 - 24.400 with this combo. I'm not sure about the score on pc though.

At 0.13, how do you manage to jump to the higher grill? I could never manage this and this is the reason I lost out on a few yellow gems.

Did you hold the X button or just press it?

Me? I tried jumping without helicoptering, but this resulted in a long drop to the ground or one of the platforms, I also tried jumping and helicoptering, but for some reason this technique failed too and Rayman didn't grip onto the grill.

I just use the jump button, no helicoptering. I make sure I'm close enough to the ceiling when making the jump. It rarely fails. If it doesn't work for you, isn't there enough time to keep climbing until you reach the ceiling and from there on to the next yellow gem?

Oh, now I realize there are a lot of different ways to trigger the Hoodlum Combo. I remind on 3 other methods to got it. BTW, now I can show you another 3 methods, Hunch. I will upload them now.

@ MandM: Sorry, I meant the jump before this. There are two grills, one above another, and I can't seem to get from the first to the second. I've tried almost everything but I still can't make it work

Oh that one. It can be tricky, at least I used to have trouble there. I think I remember I tried to jump a little bit to the left of the yellow gem above. Also, I don't rush my jump. If you notice I take the first yellow gem from the side so I have plenty of time to jump to the next grill.

@ MandM: Ah, so that's how it's done. I could never get it working when I tried, so I went about the Hoodlum combo in a different way: I avoided the first, got the second, then the one at the top, then I helicoptered down to the one on the platform, collecting the first during flight.

But I have to admit, there is one yellow gem missing. When you reload the blue can, there is one yellow right I didn't got. Normally I got him into a combo, but I was glad I filmed the combo until then and my adrenalin was so full, I don't wanted to get him, too.
I would be really, really glad, when there would be the Lums-Bug, but so I only got 24.100 points.

It's incredible how many different versions of taking the yellow gems exist. Mine is slightly different as well and I know of two other versions.

@mostwanted: It's strange that you got only 24100 although you took all the gems. I usually had a little more than that but I didn't include three of the gems and had no Lums glitch either. Maybe you missed some of the Lums?

Hmm, maybe I missed some, but now I remember also I missed 2 gems more, alltogether I missed 3 gems.
Well, could it be, that you used the Lums-Bug and I not?

Then it's quite clear because I also left three gems out and our scores are quite similar.

Well, I'm still desperatin on the green gem. I should develope a cheat which is takin' the green gem down to the bottom.

Your troubles with the green gem are similar to my troubles with the Razoff-glitch. I find it fascinating how such little things can be so damn difficult.

Maybe there are new ways the green gem can be obtained besides a lucky jump. For example, as anyone tried steering towards the right-hand wall then back again? It's silly things like this that might solve all our problems.
