I finally played the Rayman Legends demo today in a store. It was okay, but I mainly just liked the music. I really need it on RayTunes. Wish someone would try to put it on a USB stick for me so I could try ripping it... the console itself was blocked off at the store so I couldn't do it myself. :(

Wait, you own a Wii U? I thought you just tried out one. Do you mind sharing your Nintendo Network ID?

Unfortunately doesn't seem like this would be easy. Even Wii had encrypted channels when they were put on SD card. With Wii U, Nintendo has gone absolutely mad - the console has to format the whole drive for itself. This basically means they could go as far as encrypting and messing up the filesystem. We need to wait for jailbreaking the Wii U or do it ourselves in order to access the data.

I do now - though it's currently with my brother. I'll have to see if I'm able to keep it in my room.

So... your ID is...

It's no use... once you have a Wii U file in your USB, you can't even see the files, the pc forces you to format the usb... well, at least that happened when I tried to do it. You can still try it...

Well you can always create an account, like you can do in PS3s (and Xbox 360s?). ;)

Yes, though I want to wait until it's in my possession to do so.

You should try Miiverse! it's where the Wii U has the most cool features!

I like the Miiverse, at least you can draw to express your feelings about any game. :mryellow:

The Wii U chat too: finally a calling music that is better than Skype's.

The calling music kinda reminds me of Super Mario World XD

In the other hand, Skype has that... bubbly-ass song...

That would be great, thanks :D
Here are a few instructions:
  1. Copty the demo to an empty USB flash drive
  2. Connect the USB flash drive to your computer
  3. Ignore the message to format the flash drive and just leave it in there - it will be unreadable but you can still continue with the next step:
  4. Use this program to make a backup of your USB flash drive
  5. Upload that backup and link to it here.
That's all. :)

Yeah, it's perfectly normal that you can't see the files and that the computer asks you to do it, I said so before:
Drolpiraat wrote:About that, did it work, sergio? Remember, don't format the USB stick, just ignore the message and use the program on the otherwise unreadable USB drive. :)
I think you might have skipped over that part of my post. ;)

Of course. But I can actually read the data from the Wii U partition - when someone makes an image of it. Encrypted it may be, but you never know until you try. ;) Nobody that I know of has actually tried to access this, and being an expert in game file formats (I think I can call myself that by now) I might be able to find some things. Besides, I'm following the Wii U hacking scene very closely so when something happens there I'll be one of the first to know. ^^

Calling someone on Wii U Chat sounds more like Mario Paint to me :D

Uh... good luck. I bet the thing is encrypted with some AES variation, as almost everything on Wii including most internal memory was encrypted so. Hope I'm wrong though, or that some kind of Wii U Homebrew Channel will appear soonish.

Hey Drolpiraat, it seems that when I make a backup, it creates a binary the size of my flash drive, which was eight gigs. Is there anyway to shave most of that off, or do I have to use a smaller flash drive?

Well I'd tell you to cut the Wii U partition out of the file but I think it's better to have the complete image just in case. If you have a smaller flash drive that would be awesome :D Thanks!

I can already see someone trying to pull that off at a store now... that'd be a funny sight to see.
