Hmhmm, interesting name. I like it. It's catchy. I'll stick to Lunette though.

Oh no, RayFan... good luck and good will.

RayFan, will the game have some track with a bass guitar as a leading instrument? I love bass, it would be very appropiate mostly for more chill-out tracks.

Rayfan, you did a great job so far. I know that developing games is very hard(I've tried some of that)and I really respect your work...Good luck, and please, don't stop working on this game 'cuz many very good projects were stopped....For example Rayman DOOM...
I can't wait for it, I know it remains years of work but I hope it will succesfully end.
Good luck again!

Thanks, LK! I don't think I will stop until I'm done, this project is too hardcoded into my life. And afterward, I'm going to keep on making more and more. Stopping this would be like someone making themselves never go to the bathroom.

Check out the Mount Kollapso tracks in Part 12 (or an improved, but pitch shifted version in the update today), Part 14.
Decidetto wrote:Now that everyone's talking about music, I've got a music related question as well:
Are "Delirious Drizzles" and "Suspension of Disbelief / Spirit March" from soundtrack part 27 inspired by the music from Droomvlucht that a Dutch member (don't remember who, but probably Shrooblord ;) ) once sent you? Their beginnings sound a lot like the beginning of this one, which is from Droomvlucht: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZeloRDx ... plpp_video (The latter one even has the same "space wave"-style sounds)
You said that the Droomvlucht music inspired some of your own tracks, so I thought that they would maybe be these ones. :)
Indeed! :) I like their music very much, that one especially is definitely the kinds of thing I would write.

Also, I'm responding to everyone's PMs now.

I have thought this through for the last few days and I have decided to re-write everything I have done so far in the book. Staring with a 19 page long prologue.

Description wrote:Yeah, it's a little after August, but I have a good excuse. :P

As you can see, Rayman's model, animations and mechanics overall have been totally revamped from the cat puke that the November update was; sorry, no helicopter/fighting mechanics yet, that comes at a later time, and actually requires a good amount of scripting to be done. And, as you can also tell, The Dream Forest has undergone some pretty massive upgrades... as well as a whole batch of new levels to look at.

The intro scene from 0:25 to 0:52 is actually entirely rendered in 3ds Max, which is how I plan to do most of my major cutscenes - the whole section up to 0:52 is actually part of the game's introduction. From 1:20 to 1:45, you can see the Logic session where I created the track that is currently playing.

Below you can click on timelinks that send you directly to each section of the video, like you can in my soundtrack parts. Right at 20:00 is where I do a detailed flythrough of each of Rayman's complete animations (as well as slapping them on his counterpart briefly). Then in the last minute of video, you can see some voices dubbed onto characters. Oui, that is The Grand Vulture Rhook.

0:00 - Hyping Thing

2:20 - The Dream Forest
7:24 - The Memory Realm
9:45 - Gemstone Ruins
11:57 - Music Mountain
13:33 - The Ice Volcano
15:25 - Temporal Palace
16:43 - Canyon of the Lost
18:23 - Picture City

20:00 - Detailed Animation Flythrough
28:37 - A Few Voice Dubs

Hi !
Just saw it once so i maybe missed some points. Here is my little review just forgive me if i do some mistakes ;) :

First :
THIS VIDEO IS JUST A-MA-ZING. I knew that you would do an update late August but a so nice one OMG
Rayfist wrote:Oh.... my.... god.
;) u can say it...
Rayfist wrote:I just finished it, and I gotta say, this is your best work ever.
YES AGAIN...

Second :

General Review of the maps and each map one by one :

* General :
- Rayman's motion is so great...he moves well through all the map. I don't care if he can't do helico today :D...
- Environment reaction seems to be awesome : When Rayman does a great jump and lands, we can hear the print of his feet on the ground with the gravity of sound. Each step he does we can hear it...
- Mystic ambiance is preserved. Each music i heard is like that. I really worried about this fact in ROTD Ray because i missed it a lot in Rayman 3 )':. Good Job !
- U did so nice work about the background in all the maps ! Even if sometimes it's not quite perfect (i'm thinking about the mountains in The Cayon of the Lost), it makes the difference for the ambiance of the map u are walking in...

* Dream Forest :
- Ambiance ++.
- Special attention for the sea and the rivers which are well animated.

* Memory realm :
- The falling leafs...i loved them <3.
- Fireflies move well on the screen ++.
- Is that Rayman replay on the stone will be real ? It looked both funny and mysterious :D loved it...
- The calm path at 9:30 so cool ;)...

* Gemstone Ruins :
- Caves +. (HELP ME THERE IS A GHOST THERE ! AAAAAAH....).
- It reminds me The Sancturay of Stone and Fire at night (just a bit ^^).
- Water drops at 11:10 <3...

* Music Mountain :
- Stirring music (dunno if this is the good word for that :/ my lack of vocabulary i hate it...).
- u kept some rythm from the orginal music good ;)...and the new one is awesome too (hadn't listened yet all your musics).

* The Ice Volcano :
- Some space music ? I felt like i was in space at the beginning of this part...
- Scary place.
- Lightning sound at 14:27 : how did you get it ? Sounds nice !
- The caves' light at 15:20 is adapted to the ambiance of the Ice Volcano.

* Temporal Palace :
- It seems to be a strange place. You did well.
- i thought that the gears at 16:08 and after are really well done (i'm currently studying in an engineering school of mechanics so gears are always on my path ^^). Walking on them seems to be fine (can you be crashed into the wall by them XD ?).

* Canyon of the lost :
- The ambiance gives a good depiction of the place (reverso is a nasty translator >:< dunno if i explained my thoughts welll here...).
- Do not miss your jumps ;) !

* Picture City :
- Wonderful design.
- THE PENCILS ARE BACK !
- Is it ink raining ? sounds well if it is !
- When u are in this world, when u are walking will u see all in black and white ? it seems really appropriated to me.

Now it's time for Rayman's motion and different movements after 20:00 :

He has a good walk everything is fine in it. The jump seems to be like it was in the 2 but nvm it was quite good ;). When he's falling after a jump, particular attention about the hair's move which is just wonderful (especially the orientation of them...). He has a good landing too after it (we can see the real effect of gravity even on Rayman : for me it was like he had kneels XD...). His run is quite coherent. I love how u made his scarf move during it <3.
This eyelids WTH ! Their moves are just so great ! U made at least 6 or 7 expressions only with the eyelids. So collision problems with eyes i saw nothing OO nice job !
When Rayman is climbing, u made a wonderful work on the moves of his hands. Their moves are well appropriated to the situation.
I especially love the way he does his "COME ON U BAD GUYS !" at 25:30.
The move sequence of the charging/throwing/backing fist is almost perfect for me. Does Rayman put his left hand on the ground at the middle of the movement to allow himself not to fall ? i saw it in that ways and i found it really cool. The fist's way is pretty elastic and it's cool too...

Last but not least : Dark Rayman.

AAAAAAH HE'S HERE ! HE'S REAL, HE LOOKS SO BAD AND SO PERFECT AS THE BAD GUY ! Special mention for the hair and the suit with the red scar...

To finish : I DON'T CARE ! His voice sounds great.

Pfiou ! I'm done ! Hope this will help and be a start for other reviews of this so awesome update ! Hang on RayFan u did a great job so far ! Good luck ! :bigup:

EDIT : changed some punctuation to make it more understanding...

Oh my Green Day!! This is totally epic!! I was shocked to see it, it's so awesome that it burns! The only thing that I don't like is that in Gemstone Temple, Icy Volcano and Temporal Palace it's so dark that I can't see a thing. All the rest is amazing.

Dream Forest:
I totally love the nature and harmony feeling in this world. It looks really good, specially in night time. I love those red lights in the night time part.

Memory Realm:
This look really good, reminded me of the place where Polokus was sleeping in Rayman 2. Looks peaceful and caml, and that river makes the place look more peaceful for some reason.

Gemstone Temple:
Reminded me of the Inverse World where Giratine lived in Pokémon Platinum. Looks great, and all the water outside give it some extra sadness somehow.

Music Mountain:
What can I say? It's like Band Land but 3D, so much cooler and with more to explore. I am pretty excited to see how you slide in the white thingy (forgot the name). I loved the Band Land reference int he music, and I'm totally impatient to come in these flutes.

Icy Volcano:
I missed some more fire and lava. However, with that rain and all that water to swim and dive gives a really cold feeling. Definitely a good world. I loved the orange light in the end of the clip.

Temporal Palace:
Looks really dark and mysterious, and that wood makes it look like if it had been there for centuries. I like how you have to climb in the gears.

Canyon of the Lost:
Well, these desertics worlds are always my least favorite. I like the big river at the left, and these plants give a good impression of drought anyway. The palette makes the world look really dry.

Picture City:
This world is sure gonna be one of my favorites. The ink rain makes the way feel much harder, and these cool pencils have a really good model. But I feel some colour is missing. Is it me or all the pencils have the same colour? I think the pencils should still be blue, green, red... maybe depending on how they move. Like if the move vertically they're red, if they don't move they're blue, if they rotate they're green...

Overall the make looks completely amazing. Both music and environments are really well designed, and I hope you keep this up because everything's coming out really well. Good luck!
