I'm so happy that I chose not to give my pc away for a fixing last week to stay tuned for this. It was so worth it!

I would love to be a betatester whenever you need one
I mean, if my PC can run the game.
And congratulations to Rulez for getting in a band! What do you play? I want to play bass but I have no money for it. Maybe Christmas?

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I watched the video last night and I loved every second of it. The plusses have been outlined more than just well by the others here, so there's no point in me repeating them - I would, however, like to point out some things that I think could do with some work. That doesn't mean I only have critique! I loved everything about it, but these are the things I noticed:
Now this may just be my screen being a different resolution than yours (mine is 1280x1024), but Rayman looks a little squat to me. His body is just that tiny bit too compressed vertically and his feet are just a little too big in proportion. The head itself is an amazing model and the hands are quite brilliant too. I did think, however, that this may be exactly what you intended to do - the way he looks now, he appears to be a cross between the R1 Rayman and the R2 one. It is a sort of hybrid, a transition, if you will, between a more kiddy version of the hero to a slightly more adult one. But then that's just how one interprets his age across the games.
Also, I have a tip for the cartoony animations. When he's leaning back, swinging his telescopic fist around, you may want to increase the amount of motion. Cartoon is all about exaggeration, especially in the motion. Have his body swerve up and down more (and maybe fold in on itself a bit more) as he leans back, and maybe even let him lean back more and more as he charges the fist. You could also make him pick up his foot to a higher point and then have it swing up and down between two high points at level of and below his body. The head, I'd leave the way it is, or maybe turn it a bit more to one side. When he eventually throws the fist, there is nothing to add, I think. You absolutely nailed that.
And to conclude: some really good things I noticed. The lighting in all the stages is amazing. The way the surroundings light up around the Tings and the Red Lums really appeals to me, as well as that one part in I think it was Gemstone Temple, when there's a ray of reddish light and you position Rayman in such a way that you can really see what the lighting does to his shading. The scenes are dark, mysterious and eerie, or playful, colourful and joyous. I also liked the animation of Rayman's angry spell while standing on Polokus's roost. And, as I said, many of the things other people said, I noticed and liked too. This is great progress and I'm really enjoying seeing the game develop from zilch to amazing points like this.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I saw the video yesterday, and I really must say it is extremely immpressive
and actually the more and more I see of this, the more and more I want to make a contribution. However there's nothing I think I can really do, my microphone's awful so I wouldn't be much use as a voice actor, I can't make a decent 3D model to save my life, so I would be much use in making miscelaneous models, besides I can only really sort of use blender, I tried the trial of 3ds max and the best thing I got awas a retexture of that rayman 3 model everyone has.. I am highly doubtfull my computer could run the game, so I couldn't really be a tester.
oh well, my best option is to sit back and let the people who know what they're doing, do what they do best, making an awesome "made by a single man" game that coul;d very well surpass simmilar games like Minecraft or Cave story in quality at least.

Well I have finally have a place to start with the new prologue. It's a small idea right now but I shall expand upon it. It will take a while though, 19 pages is a lot.

I'm pretty sure the technology in a windows 7 won't work with this game.
Well, the only time i'll ever see this game when its released (if it's not also on consoles and my father isn't cheap) will be in a playthrough. (most likely by Haruka)

I have an idea for a character that I plan to put in the book. Would you like me to PM you the idea?

What? It even works with XP - why wouldn't it work on a Win7?Rayman fan2000 wrote:I'm pretty sure the technology in a windows 7 won't work with this game.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
The current pb of ROTD if i'm not wrong is the power required to play it in a certain quality, not the OS u are using
...i don't think W7 is the pb but, as we saw it before with comments about the stresstest, the capacity of each computer to play the game.
Indeed, u won't play it with most of the computers which have been made for XP. But i think it will be possible with W7 (if you don't have only 1 GB RAM, a fucking bad graphic card and processor
...).

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
My computer's an XP from 2005 and I get a steady framerate of (what was it exactly that I said) 45 FPS for crying out loud. If a computer from 2005 running an ancient OS can handle it, the new fancy machines running the newest OS should do just fine.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
20 fps at low graphic for me and i got a laptop with i3 and 1 GB graphic card so u can have so better...don't worry ^^ as says Shrooblord..

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
I think the main point with these many reports on 'how low the framerate is' are based on results gotten from a laptop tests. Laptops are known for not being very powerful, with some very expensive gaming laptop exceptions. That's all fine - I'm sure RayFan would love to know whether laptop users can also play the game or not, but we should also remember that this doesn't necessarily means no-one will be able to run it.
