Too be honest if the only way Naughty Dog could continue the series was to reboot it BUT retain the personality, character designs (a few little tweaks would be fine) and charm of the originals I wouldn't mind too much. Even if it was a tad darker too. However anything similar to what they pitched originally then that's a definite no for me. Overall though a true sequel is what I want most, exploring the whole Mar fiasco in detail, as well as showing us more of Jak's intriguing world.

Indeed, the current world Jak and Daxter has still possesses many potential plot threads and the like to be dealt with, the biggest being the change and growth of the villages into Haven City, how did all the locales from the Precursor Legacy end up as part of it?

Yeah I thought it was pretty awesome how a lot of the places you explore in 2 are pretty much places you ventured through in the first game but completely run down and destroyed to the point where they're unrecognizable. I'm also curious of what became of the locals, I can only assume some of them were killed by Kor and his armies. I loved the fact that they give us insight on Lurkers in Jak 2 and how they had went from the main enemies and found in large numbers in the first game to pretty much slaves and minorities treat with inequality. It was cool how they pretty much became your allies thanks to Brutter. I always wished they appeared in Jak 3 to help battle against the KG and Metal heads though. Yakkows seemed to also have survived, but I always wondered what became of that poor Flut-flut and if those became extinct.

It was a good thing indeed. I did change my thoughts about Last of Us.
@Bzzit
Reboot was not a must. Sly got true sequel after many years. Jak can do same. I dunno why ND even considered reboot.

They probably had their reasons, they're a good bunch of devs, and given that the abandoned the project and realised it wasn't what fans wanted, I guess they probably thought it'd be best to start anew.

They probably saw how was Lost Frontier recieved and that was maybe a reason why they thought they should reboot the franchise. Personally I dislike reboots in general. There is no single reboot I like better than original.

Hm, not so sure on reboots and my stance on them.
As TLF, I doubt it was the reason ND wanted to reboot, it's one of those things that can easily be handwaved away, even with its sequel hook.

I think the reboot came to be because of a few factors. For one, both Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin left Naughty Dog after Jak X and not only did they both establish the company itself, but were greatly responsible and involved in the development of both the Crash and Jak series. As well as those two leaving, Naughty Dog had been developing realistic games for like 4 years with an engine catered towards just that, so I guess attempting to go back to a more cartoony game would have been very troublesome for them.

True, though they deserve credit for being aware that they weren't keeping true to what Jak was all about. Though I do hope there'll be a studio or group capable of developing a true Jak 4.

Perhaps Ready at Dawn Studios? They made Daxter for PSP

Haven't heard a peep from them in some time, I wonder what their current state is.

Yeah, Ready at Dawn did an excellent job with Daxter. They are currently developing "The Order: 1886" with the help of Sony Santa Monica for Ps4. Maybe after they have some experience with developing on a HD console as opposed to the PSP (where they were primarily based), Sony will let them work on Jak if Naughty Dog don't have another ago. I would trust them to make a quality Jak game as they captured the feel of the trilogy perfectly with Daxter.

At least ND tried and admited they could not make another great Jak game. Ready at Dawn would certainly do better job than High Impact Games. But High Impact Games tried this also:

Looked like a mix between Japanese and American PS1 designs seen on covers. I liked it very much.

Ugh, I can't say I like that design, no offense, but I hate the cutesification things seem to go through when being taken to other markets.

I really liked the design, not sure why though. The concepts they showed for the game such as the environments looked really nice too!

I understand.
Japanese marketing is way different than Western. Spyro and Crash were made cute on Japanese covers. Kirby, when brought to West was made angry and badass looking.

I don't mind Kirby being cute though, his design wasn't really changed, only tweaked to make him appear "tuff"
