There are so many franchises Ubisoft could use now that the probability of this game being actually a Rayman one is pretty low.
I mean, we'll see at E3, but I would like to avoid being in that kind of mood:
"OW YEAH, THEY ANOUNCED A NEW 3D RAMEN!"

Wait...it's another Assassin's Creed...

:D

Well, Ubisoft is good at spewing out Assassin's Creed games every 48 hours...

Now that I've read this question throughly, I'll answer properly. And what I'm gonna type out is from VARIOUS sources. So I'm not trying to point out members, okay? Not gonna name names (Rayfist, bitch >:c).

Rayman 4 must be:

- 3D Platformer
- Serious, No Tom-foolery nonsense
- Story with dark, brooding atmosphere
- Pretend like Origins and Legends never happen
- Has to be like Rayman 2, may be like Rayman 3
- No Rabbids either

And that's about it. :p

I, for the record wouldn't mind if R4 would actually become the game concept they scrapped before making RRR, with or without the Rabbids being the new villain(s?).

The cancelled Rayman 4 looked great going by the concept art! I definitely wouldn't mind it either. Just don't call it Rayman 4.

What should it be called then?
Rayman - The Resurrected Encounter/Adventure? xD

I don't get why people make that out to be a bad thing. Sure, the company's executives' core motivation is to raise more cash, but the reason Assassin's Creed raises more cash is because it appeals to a larger percentage of the gaming community. Hypothetically, if Rayman was a popular franchise, and high-quality games were being released "every 48 hours," I don't think you'd have the same stance.

I actually completely agree with that sentiment. It's idiotic to limit yourself to such a narrow scope in terms of what's an "acceptable" sequel, especially since the Rayman franchise doesn't really seem to have a set "mood" for its games in the first place. Since Origins and Legends worked in the mood they were going for, they have a place in the franchise. I highly doubt Rayfist disagrees with that just because he prefers a different game.

There's clearly been a massive decline in the quality of the AC series, Unity was a broken mess, along with a very bland 2D sidescroller set in China, and Syndicate will likely end up being the same old thing. Either way, it's what sells so, it's understandable why they'll pump the franchise for everything it's worth. Only one's I'm interested in playing are 2 and 4.

It just leads back to the point that the Gaming industry is too afraid to take risks, and these different things for Ubisoft are only mere side projects. Instead of making a full on Assassins Creed in China, they make it a 2D spin off. Again though, pumping out AC with not many differences is what sells, but it shows that gaming companies are way to afraid to take massive risks, I highly doubt we'll ever get an AC set entirely in China. This is why I look towards the future of Kickstarter and Indie development. Unfortunately it's because of games like these that make a lot of big Japanese devs to afraid to localize their games here, why spend months to years localizing a project when you've got big titles like Assasins Creed and COD overshadowing the hell out of it, it's a big competitive market here.

I'm moreso referring to people that complain about it simply because it sells, without having any real practical reason to dislike it.

Agreed, with you both, totally.

There's no reason that they can't all be good, they're just making stupid decisions regarding the direction in some of them. I, II, Brotherhood and IV are the great Assassin's Creed games in my opinion, and since IV was released only a year and a half ago, they're clearly plenty capable of making good AC games still, they just have no idea what they're doing half the time. Hiring the the guy who wrote the notoriously boring AC III story to write for Unity was honeslty one of the worst decisions they could bave made, and boy did they make that decision. I'd like to say Syndicate won't end up the same way, but who am I kidding, it looks like a carbon copy of Unity. At least they got the spoken accent right this time around.

Nah, I'm aware, was just some food for thought for interesting discussion since Ad brought up an interesting topic here.

That's why I put the disclaimer of the list I made came from VARIOUS sources. I'm not trying McCarthy this forum up, which ol' RayFisty accuses me of doing.

THANK YOU! Finally, someone speaks the truth. However, Legends was a pretty good game.

Ah, I'm sorry I started the whole AC thingy: it was only a joke about Ubisoft releasing more and more AC games over the years.
Not saying it's not working for sales. Sure, Unity was worse than its predecessors, but considering all the praise Ubisoft received for the previous ones, they can allow themselves a few missteps (or not-super-great AC games).

I also said that because, as I like to point it out, Ubisoft has franchises which are currently working way better than Rayman. Why shouldn't they spend more ressources working on them?

I don't care if it's a joke or not. Origins and Legends were both missteps for the Rayman franchise. I really wish Ubisoft would get their head out of their ass and start caring about Rayman again. Even though their company is getting close to EA level of bad.

Also, fucking excuse me for not understanding the joke. It seemed serious to me. I'm done with this shit, I'm just gonna go. I seem to be alone with my opinion

Good bye.
