Perhaps Umber was a much more understanding guardian than the others and knew the importance of Rayman getting the 4 masks.

In the PS version, Ly uses her telepathic powers to talk to him and ask him to help. Umber tells that it's an honor to help Rayman saving the world.

i know. i've got revolution and the ps1 version. so, now i just need the pc, dreamcast and ds versions and i think i'll have all of them. but perhaps not...
