The first thing I'm going to say is I absolutely hate Rayman Revolution; not just because of the game in general, but because of what a buggy mess it is. I encounter countless glitches every time I play it, in fact today I had to reset the game three times in one sitting due to the game glitching out in some way or simply crashing.
First off there's the one that everyone knows; the sound effect loop glitch that usually occurs with the helicopter sound effect, where it will start playing continuously and keep overlapping until the next loading screen, where it will be stopped by a random sound effect (that is if it doesn't crash the game first).
There are two cutscene glitches I encountered today, the first was, if I remember correctly, at the emd of "Beneath the Lava Sanctuary, once you free the Teensie at the end, a mini cutscene will play, and what happened today was when I freed the Teensie, some of those black furball things were still coming after me, they floated around Rayman during the cutscene, before disappearing halfway through, which I suppose is nothing out of the ordinary, but then as the mini cutscene was supposed to end as the Teensie walked off, the black dialogue bar stayed there at the bottom of the screen and Rayman was just stood there, I couldn't move and the only movement happening on-screen was Rayman's idle animation, along with the occasional random camera shift. I couldn't even pause the game, forcing me to reset my PS2.
Another thing that happened was after one of the Razorbeard cutscenes was over, the game continued as normal until the infamous helicopter sound effect glitch occured, so I reloaded the save file and the cutscene played in fast motion, everything but the sound was running faster than it should; of course, the dialogue couldn't keep up and the voices kept stopping or just overlapping eachother, I have no idea why that happened.
Also, the last glitch I encountered was during the final boss, where after dying once, the music for the first phase wasn't playing.

Uhm, just by curiosity, are you playing with the NTSC version of the game? I never had the glitches that you pointed and I've played RR quite some times already.

The major glitch that I caught in RR was in the Mine Car to go to the Pirate Mines: once Rayman was jumping in the game was not doing anything else. I still am not quite sure why it happens but I believe it is linked with the direction I take Rayman to it.

Well, talking about glitches...

Poor Rayman! :( Looks like the emulator was second-guessing the game's primitive physics engine. :fou:

I love how Ly is just waving at him like "Yeah I'm not going to help you. You look like you can handle yourself just fine. Mkay see you around, right? Yeah, bye!"

I don't know if you guys know this, but there are a couple of glitches related to using the thinking button (the one that tells you stories about the rayman world if you have a number of lums) in some situations.

For example, in The Woods of Light, try to destroy the cage while thinking. Done correctly the cutscene will still working, but you can move around (you car hear rayman moving, and you can see the shadow where rayman is supposed to be on camera). You can die and respawn, and trying to go back again triggers the cutscene again; or wait until the cutscene has finished, then the game crashes (I think).

This is a stupid thing, but in Cave of Bad Dreams, before the slide section when Jano chases you, if you think before the cutscene, the cutscene will not be triggered at all. I have no clue why, but that happens lol.

You can try these on the PC version, that's where I know it works. For other version I have no clue, sorry :oops2:

That Jano cutscene is one that fails to trigger quite a lot for me for some reason, and it's got nothing to do with thinking. The Woods of Light one is interesting. I'm guessing you mean the second cage?

Yeah, the one that has the teensies inside at the end of the level

Well, there's apparently a glitch in the Marshes of Awakening which let's you see Mini Jano far away in the background. You can activate it by beating The Marshes of Awakening and then returning to it after you've beaten The Cave of Bad Dreams (first visit). I found it in RayWiki.

That's not really something I'd bump this thread over, RayWiki is owned by RPC and is edited by its members, I don't think there's much point in repeating what's known. Better to leave this dormant unless you've got any new discoveries or findings.

If you're disputing what's written, you're better off discussing it on the talk page.

I need help, I'm playing Rayman 2 on Nintendo 64, and I don't understand why Jano commits suicide at the end of the level. If anyone knows why this happens, please tell me. :?

If I recall correctly, that happens if you climb the ladder too quickly. I think if you make sure to stay on the ladder until he lands, then you'll be fine...

Do we a topic / wiki page dedicated specifically to soft-locks? Not visual / clipping glitches, but map bugs that can cause a soft-lock?

I cannot believe that in 25 years no one has figured out that if you do the blue sphere segment in TSoSaF three times (leaving Umber's chamber each time through the wall to the lava river, without placing the blue sphere on the pedestal), then after the third time, you get stuck in the pit, which is supposed to take you through the ceiling into the chamber.

And yet, I did not see it documented. Reproduced on PC and DC versions at the very least.

Well, I'm afraid I can indeed imagine that nobody discovered that after 25 years… :oops2: I imagine someone might have tried to do it twice during playtesting and they were like, shoot, let's fix that. But the solution only makes it possible to do it three times, and after that they either didn't test it or felt nobody would try that! :oops2:

Makes me wonder what kind of broken logic they have on the teleports though…

Yes, I should clarify that you can only successfully do it twice. After the third time you do the slide, you get stuck in the pit and never make it back into Umber's chamber.

Hasn't a good portion of the game code been reverse-engineered? By RayCarrot, or yourself, for that matter?

From another point of view, it's a fail-safe for players who insist on getting stuck in an infinite loop :P

And to be fair, only a very dedicated tester would catch such a glitch.

Yes indeed, so at some point I will probably investigate! I wonder if it'll be even trickier to figure out than the infinite flying barrel glitch:mefiant:

A better failsafe would have been to launch the ending cutscene and show Rayman getting the mask. Perhaps with a sassy message overlaid on the screen :bad:

Now this is quite interesting to hear! I've only ever had to repeat the slide at most, twice for missing lums, and got them the second time. Once again it's amazing what new things I can learn being here!

This sounds like something I would probably do
