Did RayMan Ruin Rayman?

I'm pretty sure I remember that the original PC version wasn't that bad. Since I also was baffled by the stiff controls on the Steam version.

It's still beatable though

Wasn't there an allegation once that there was a malfunctioning DRM that artificially lowered the score in some minigames?

Why'd they slap more DRM onto a year old game (which was probably already cracked) to begin with?

Anyways, apparently Rayman Raving Rabbids helped dislexic children with reading better!?

I meant on the original PC version actually.

Something just came to my mind today: has anyone on this planet ever had the patience to get 100% on Rayman Raving Rabbids? Seriously, who'd want to play the minigames over and over again to get a perfect score and then play them again in a perfect run in the challenges?

Wow, Twelve hours of playing action video games(like Rayman Raving Rabbids) actually improves the reading skills of dyslexic children. Heh, You have taught me something.
Never thought that a "Rayman Raving Rabbids" game was so beneficial.

Was it Rayman Raving Rabbids in particular, or was it just the game chosen for testing? The focus of the study seems to be on the effect of Action Games in general, from what I'm reading, RRR was useful for testing because of its variety of different game types.

I tried to years ago, but I came up well short since some of the minigames were too frustrating. I don't think I'll ever try again.

Especially because that save file from years ago has been deleted for quite some time. :boon:

I think it isn't humanly possible to perfect all the minigames in score mode. I do not think anyone in the community has done it. :P

As I recall certain minigames are actually bugged making it actually impossible to 100% score mode

I Think Rabbids Were Ubisoft's Attempt To Make A Rayman Spin Off That Rayman Fans Took The Wrong Way

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Of course not! How could 1 terrible game possibly ruin a fantastic franchise? Us Rayman fans remain to love the series no matter what!

You can say that now, but people did get really bitter during the RRR years. Let's not forget that the original RRR was meant to be a proper 3D platformer like Rayman 2 and 3. We didn't get a proper platformer title in the series until 2011 with Rayman Origins, which was 8 years after Rayman 3, and we've yet to see a new 3D title at all.

Don't get me wrong, personally, I think things have turned out rather well. The UbiArt titles might not be entirely to my taste, but they did bring Rayman back into the mainstream and were critically acclaimed. But at the same time, it did seem like Rayman had lost his spotlight during the RRR years, and given what could have been, I can see why some folks might be bitter still. There's a reason why the calls for "Rayman 4" haven't died down, even today.

Bump.

I never think that the rabbids ruin Rayman or Ubisoft forget Rayman for the rabbids. Even if the hate from the Rabbids come from the lack of news about Rayman during 2008-2010 (who didn’t come from the Rabbids) or the exaggerated marketing about the Rabbids by Ubisoft, i never think that the Rabbids did something wrong with the Rayman series.

IMO Rayman was never ruined

The rabbids are an awsome addition imo and the games are very much fun ( on wii at least)

If there would be one thing, its no new 3d rayman since rayman 3
